For comparison:

• Milwaukee #35 DMA (895k TV homes) 17.4k avg attendance, 5yo Arena lease thru 2048.

• Portland #25 DMA (1.14m TV homes) 18.6k avg attendance, 27yo Arena lease thru 2025.
So there are probably at least $350 to $500 million in updates needed to get the Rose Garden back up to snuff. Building a new arena costs about $1.5 - $2 billion...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if having a team that has proven it can win titles with a legit MVP in his prime adds $500 million to the value of the team.

That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Why didn’t the Bucks co-owner wait for the new tv deal? He just sold this past week
Buy the rumor, sell the fact? Assets often have strong advances in price "before" the anticipated bullish event (for that assets price) occurs as everyone knows it's coming. Very common

Maybe because Jody is worth over 20 billion and has no incentive to sell, whereas Marc Lasry wealth is considerably less, and may need the money now to invest in other things? Jody can afford to be patient. I think the Blazers have become enjoyable for her to own.

Jody has zero need to sell right now sitting on her brothers wealth ... wait out the market ... get a feeling for where the TV number is going to come and and set the price accordingly. Blazers right now would easily go for 3B if the Bucks are at 3.5 and the Suns were around 4B.

That would be the only good reason to continue to own them that I can think of. If she sold them to you or I for $5 she'd still have way more money then she & her extended family could spend for generations. At that level of wealth, whats the point of getting the absolute peak value if you don't enjoy dealing with an asset?

STOMP

Another thought, she may be obligated to get peak value as part of the trust...

I just remember reading recently that the Rose Garden is the oldest unrenovated arena in the league.

But that was not accurate.

The Moda has been beautifully and continuously maintained and upgraded over the years.

It's like being a homeowner, you maintain your house and do upgrades every year you're not spending much vs if you don't do shit to the house and have to do major renovations and repairs.

For one of the "older" arenas.... our arena is in REALLY good shape. There are a lot of newer ones that are already dumps. Just not maintained at all.

The only things the Rose Quarter needs is more proximal bars, and maybe better parking.

I thought most people knew that. Paul used to fly the helicopter down for games and then stat at the apartment. Wasn't that fairly common knowledge?
Maybe? I just thought few knew that?
