Phil and Penny have been super generous to Portland. Their philanthropy is incredible. The Albina Vision Project will transform the area around Moda Center. Similar looking to the SW Waterfront District.

I think he will eventually. This move at the very least will give him huge leverage since now he can say he has a big stake in the development of the area.

Well I assume it could put him in the lead if there’s multiple offers for the team. Now he can say he’s investing in the area as well by putting his money where his mouth is. Granted the NBA already wants this for him anyways but still gives additional power
