Dodgers have money to burn, but it's a good sign that they've clearly been willing to do so in order to win (and have been winning).

surely, jody allen will sell it to the local (very rich guy) guy who want to keep the team in portland

or maybe she doesnt give a fuck and sells the franchise to the highest bidder

There would be n succession plan required by the NBA, I would think?

With Knight's age, there would almost absolutely be some type of succession plan in place upon purchase. Same would likely be the case if Ellison bought the team....with his son as future owner.

this is her fiduciary obligation. the previous news cited a potential auction to find the highest bidder. but i'm sure adam silver would rather the team be sold to a group headlined by Knight. Will be interesting to see if any other groups make a written bid like this one.

well, he has children after all, they will probably take over once phil is not with us anymore

he wouldnt try to buy the franchise if the plan doesnt exist, hes not stupid, he knows hes 84 and that he probably wont live much longer... imagine buying the franchise at the age of 84, just to sell it when you die... it makes no sense at all

Phil has a net worth over $43 B so this isn't that big of a deal to him I think.

If she sells immediately, then technically this is the highest bidder!!

Please. Please.

Luxury tax won’t mean shit to Knight btw. We’re also gonna have 7 statement jerseys.

I could imagine them avoiding it because of conflicts of interest.

Woj says 2 billion "plus"

The highest sales for NBA franchises without considering inflation have been:

1. Brooklyn - $ 3.3 billion - Joe Tsai, 2019
2. Houston - $2.2 billion- Tillman Fretitta, 2017
3. Clippers - $2.0 billion- Balmer, 2014
4. Utah - $1.6 billion- Ryan Smith, 2020
5. Minny - $1.5 billion - ARod et al., 2021

This sale could potentially be the second highest true valuation the league has ever transacted if it goes through.
