Or Dame gets traded….Expect the unexpected. I don’t think anyone knows what will happen.
cuz he has literally said he never wanted to own the team. it wasn't exactly speculation when people shot the idea down earlier. And if I remember correctly, most who mentioned it got the idea slapped down as unrealistic!![]()
I could imagine the league seeking to block a deal involving Knight specifically because of the ease by which he could circumvent the salary cap via shoe deals.I could imagine them avoiding it because of conflicts of interest.

I doubt it. I wouldn’t expect much in terms of lending high level veterans and trades. Usually when a team gets sold the new ownership want to start fresh with a team.I’m sure this is a complicated process but there’s no chance of this happening before free agency right?

Prolly some oversight needed from their part to avoid under the table deals, but Adam Silver seems like he'd be very welcoming of the idea of one of the richest people in the world who made his $ from a sports apparel company (who is currently a major partner with the NBA) buying into the league.I could imagine the league seeking to block a deal involving Knight specifically because of the ease by which he could circumvent the salary cap via shoe deals.
it's not an accident that Dame was the spokesman for Biofreeze and Moda. But all team owners own other businesses and could sign players to some sort of sponsorship deal on the side. There is obviously strict rules against this.
And he's Oregon through-and-through. it can go both ways reallyThis is a done deal.
News like this only gets leaked when it’s about to cross the finish line.
Hmmm, wonder if this will affect trading the 7 pick vs keeping it if Jody is close to selling? I would think we might be less likely to do BIG deals with longer term contracts as opposed to drafting a #7 pick and keeping it.
It has been. Many people thought it wouldn't be possible (myself included).how come no-one mentioned phil knight on this forum
Jordan brand is not on the same level as Nike and Adidas. To the conflict of interest crowd….you are aware of who owns the hornets, right?
The Cronin deal could have been a "severance" for Cronin spending so much time with the organization. Phil could come in and fire him and place his own pick.I will say this:
I hope the Knight ownership group thoroughly reevaluates the GM spot or president of Basketball ops if they are put in place.
