Phil knight offers to buy blazers

so Jody and Bert are holding the sale hostage and trying to stretch it out. Awesome.

one final F You to the fans on their way out.
I don't get that connection at all...people sell businesses everyday and the only people they would be stringing out are investors....not fans. I'll be a fan still if they don't sell the team. I just want Phil Knight to own it because he'll pay whatever luxury tax is needed to compete...he isn't going to cut corners at all....at his age he won't have many shots at a championship and my money says he'll try to buy one. Nike can give some great incentives to bring players in

read that because the Blazers own Moda Center that they are worth more than franchise who lease arenas.....and that tv money in the future is going to bring big profits to the organization....word is Vulcan is trying to find a way to keep the team past the 6 month deadline Paul had in place. Real estate has certainly gotten more expensive over the last year in Portland so I understand how they think 2 billion is too little...see if Phil makes a counter offer with a bigger number. Also this starts a bidding war but knowing there's a deadline investors can just wait until the day before the deadline and low ball Jody. (insert Keljin Blevins joke)

I can see waiting for the TV contract to be announced, and the money from any expansion teams. But if one of the new franchises is Seattle, (and it will be) how does that affect the Blazers? Isn't Seattle currently part of the Blazer TV market? Is that a factor or do teams all share the TV money equally?

I read that two new expansion franchises will cost 2 billion apiece so Phil could buy the Sonics or Vegas teams cheaper than the Blazers....I just want him to end up owning the Blazers...as to the numbers they are throwing around I have no idea of the details. People don't seem to also consider that Jody may want to keep the team. That's also a possibility...if she does I hope she understands that she needs to be willing to pay some luxury tax to have a dynasty here.

If Jody ends up with the team that will be a huge disaster. She might be the worst owner in the NBA.

We are? How did you get from "they aren't selling" to "We're out"?? The whole point is that they are NOT selling.
No--the whole point is that the offer actually existed, and that its details being leaked was a big enough deal that the Blazers absolutely had to respond to it. Yes, they claimed they're not selling, but nobody actually believes that. Adam Silver said as much yesterday--they will sell, even if they haven't accepted this particular offer on this particular day.

The fact that Uncle Phil is involved at all with a serious purchase offer is phenomenal news, regardless of the offer's lack of immediate acceptance.

And you believe that?

If it was just Canzano blabbering, that would be a fair question. When you combine what we are hearing about the Blazers with the announcement from the NFL front office that the trust has no plans to sell the Seahawks, the "no sale pending" claim becomes more credible.

Combine what we're hearing about the Blazers? EVERYTHING we've been hearing is that they are going to be sold. Nobody said anything about a sale pending.

If Phil Knight ends up buying the team, will the paranoid fans assume the team is moving to Eugene now?

On a serious note, I wonder if he'd be building a new arena?

What's wrong with Moda?

Welcome to opening night here in SwooshVille!

see the Kings and get back to me...or is this you trying to win your poll?

She has taken a team consider to have great ownership and flipped that to be considered terrible ownership in just a few years.

I didn't say definitively she is the worst NBA owner, but I said she just might be. I don't see how that is debatable. Do you feel she is a good owner?

I don't pay any attention to what the suits do with ownership ..I think she did great erasing the Neil Olshey era off the books and hiring Joe and Chauncey...agreeing to trade CJ build a new core...she attends home games even when we're tanking so I think this thing people have against her is pretty unfounded other than she groped her security guard back in the day...she hasn't been at the helm through the last 10 years and Paul hired all the folks she fired...she's not a puppet owner from what I can tell but really, it's not important to me....she doesn't bother me at all. A team that makes the playoffs for the better part of a decade does not spell worst ownership in the league....the Lakers have worse ownership...the Knicks have worse ownership..the Kings have worse ownership...etc...the Magic...she wasn't around when Nate got fired and they blew up the team or when Lamarcus left for nothing.....to single her out in my view is to ignore the history of the franchise over the last 10 years.

You seem to be contradicting yourself.

why...because I think Phil will overpay to win now? What does that have to do with them not selling out the fans? The politics of deals on the table? I want Phil to buy the team but don't think current ownership is ignoring the fans at all....I think that's fabricated dislike for Jody more than anything and sure...people are free to dislike her.....what's your take on the topic? I added the reason I like Phil buying the team but that didn't change my original statement about Jody and Bert not caring about fans...you think they don't? Maybe address the topic with your own 2 cents if you find a problem with mine?

I'm not sure if I'd call Paul Allen a great owner. He was pretty mediocre for all but about 5 years.
