Phil Robertson suspended for "anti-gay" remarks

I can't find a single source that verifies Obama think Farrakhan is some sort of hero.

If Farrakhan had a TV show, he surely would be suspended for his equally outrageous statements.

I don't see right wingers demanding Farrakhan be given a TV show on A&E.

Anyhow, I don't care what a Robertson, or a Farrakhan, or a Bashir say. Their views are their views, and have literally zero impact on me, and minimal impact on society.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say to start condemnation with the gays. And it was an anti-gay remark. No quotations needed. Also, slave owners used the Bible to support their acts of cruelty. Cruelty should not be allowed no matter what the Bible says..

In the eyes of most Christians, homosexuality is a sin. So is bestiality, infidelity, prostitution, greed, slander, swindling, and alcoholism

It's all sin.

Not once did he slander anyone

Most Christians? Do you have statistical proof? I know hundreds of Christians who don't believe homosexuality is a sin.

A convicted woman beater (multiple times) is lecturing a guy who was talking about the Bible, and CrowTrobot has the giggles.

Charlie Sheen, you're a crazy, violent son of a gun!

Sheen's a pussycat.

Biblethumpers have murdered many millions in the name of god.

How about a cage match between them?

Being a homosexual is not a sin to many people but they are likely not going to want to hear of
homosexual acts. And even when they do, they may still wish to avoid passing judgement, but involuntary revulsion is sometime difficult to avoid as Leviticus suggests, abomination needs no words to express.

Phil Robertson being attacked for attacking the homosexuals.

The writer asked him “What, in your mind, is sinful?”

Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.

Notice he doesn't attack the person, but the act. He has gone on to say he loves all men and women equally. It's a shame those casting stones on him don't have the same courtesy.

He also said these hateful words in the article
We’re Bible-thumpers who just happened to end up on television. You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we would just be better off. We ought to just be repentant, turn to God, and let’s get on with it, and everything will turn around.

And of course, if there is perceived injustice anywhere in the world the NAACP jumps on the band wagon

They go on to call him a racist for these comments

I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.

he's denying there was black oppression under jim crow and implying modern black entitlement is responsible for abuse of the welfare system. his comments are extraordinarily ignorant and racist.

No, he isn't, you are. He is not denying, he is stating his view on what he saw and lived through. Living in both Portland and Houston I have seen first hand the difference in both white and black people from different areas. I happened to grow up in an area with one black family. They seemed really happy to me, but doesn't make me a racist or ignorant for saying it. Here in Houston, things are much different. Areas predominantly black that are flat out dangerous. A child growing up there would have an entirely different viewthan I did. He stated its what he saw period

you're completely missing (or willfully ignoring) the context and implication of the paragraph, just as you are with his statements about homosexuals. he is obviously not simply making an observation from experience in his younger days. he's making a political statement that happens to be completely ignorant of the facts and to have racist overtones. he may not be so much a willful racist as he is just a redneck ignoramus, but that paragraph absolutely is insulting to blacks.

I don't know how the guy could have lived through the 1950s and 1960s in the deep south and not seen separate drinking fountains at the least.

Even in retrospect, he has to know the history.

There's no disputing that his statements were ignorant and racist.

Why do you hate white people?

Liberals didn't invite Ahmajnindisnjob to speak.

Liberals don't consider Farrakhan anything at all, and I doubt that Obama considers him anything. But it makes for a neat meme.

GET OFF OF MY LAWN!!!

What are you talking about, by the way?

We live in a nation (hell, a world) that puts more emphasis on women being attractive than smart, handy, self sufficient, or self reliant. We're better than we were in the past, but still not great. The "fix" to the problem has created a weird, perverse almost, impact on young boys though.

Human beings have murdered many more than Biblethumpers in the name of human beings. How about a cage match between all human beings?

What, you don't think THE LIBTARD SHOW is a reputable source?

Right? Those namby pampby libtards and their cowtowing to Moslems!

Bollinger opened the debate addressing critics, stating that "To those who believe that this event should never have happened, that it is inappropriate for the university to conduct such an event, I want to say that I understand your perspective and respect it as reasonable...it is an experiment, as all life is an experiment. This is the right thing to do and indeed, it is required by the existing norms of free speech"

Bollinger then gave his opening address, turning to Ahmadinejad and stating: "Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator, and so I ask you, why have women, members of the Bahá'í Faith, homosexuals and so many of our academic colleagues become targets of persecution in your country?"

"Why do you support well-documented terrorist organizations that continue to strike at peace and democracy in the Middle East, destroying lives and the civil society of the region? Frankly, and in all candor Mr. President, I doubt that you will have the intellectual courage to answer these questions, but your avoiding them will in itself be meaningful to us. I do expect you to exhibit the fanatical mind-set that characterizes what you say and do."

So if you are asked about black people where you grew up and say you saw people singing and not complaining that would be racist?

Wow, what a fucking crock of shit that is

The Bible lumbs homosexuality in with all other forms of sexual immorality. Sexual immorality is condemned multiple times throughout the New Testament. Scripture does not differentiate between homosexuality and other forms of sexual immorality, including premarital sex, extra-marital sex, incestuous sex, etc. The only issue is that homosexual sex is the only form of "sexual immorality" that people are trying to justify as not being unbiblical.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to PtldPlatypus again."

Aw Denny, you surprise me with the shallowness of your rant. You should know there were no drinking fountains out where they hoe the cotton.
The man gave you a glimpse of what he saw, not a reenactment of what you conjure up for that day which obviously include things that didn't exist.

I never hoed cotton but I picked beans in Oregon back in the 40s and 50s. No blacks, no Mexicans, but there were migrant Okies and Arkies camped around the bean fields. We brought a drink in the lunch bag you totted to work or you didn't drink. Holy Shit man!, Drinking fountains?!?!? Pull you head out and read what he said not what you think he should say.

Hey, I watched about 5 minutes of Duck Dynasty last evening. Holy crap that is one dumb ass show! How in the hell does that attract the most viewers on cable TV??
Go figure!

Everyone knows black people were happiest when singing the blues and tap dancing.

That's not all that he said.

"Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

They were happy pre-entitlement, pre-welfare? Just wow.

Black people had to drink from separate drinking fountains, among other terrible segregation era mistreatments, then.

Do you really think they were happy with that?

Really?

Picking cotton, eating watermelon and fried chicken.

One time I was talking to a person who knew a person that talked to a person that said their great great grandfather was a slave and he really enjoyed it. Therefore all black people enjoyed being slaves.

No I don't, but then again neither you nor I were there. A lot of people seem happy that aren't, and vice versa. There are a lot of people that commit suicide and immediately people say "wow, they seemed so happy" As well as many people living like dirt that are the happiest people ever

I volunteer at a prison here to speak to inmates. You would be shocked at how many of them are happy. Happy to be in prison even. Some of them have been released and do something to go right back because they are happier there with rules and structure.

I guess the old saying about one mans garbage being another mans treasure or something like that fits here.

I have had money, and have had nothing. Having money is better, but I sure do miss the simplicity of having none.

No wonder blacks were so happy under segregation, they had the white man's laws to bring order to their naturally chaotic lives.... is what one could construe as being the message put forth by your example
