Interesting note here by Fischer basically saying Grant doesn’t want to be traded.

This is all part of the dance. Can be used as a negotiating tool in a trade. Just like the "demand" POR has to have two picks for JG ( I don't buy it for a second; you would NEVER leak your bottom line).

If the Lakers were close to a trade including 2 picks and decided not to — and this has been reported though not widely —then THEY could have leaked it to justify inaction. Cronin has not confirmed or denied. If 2 picks is part of the price, now everyone “knows it” and Cronin does not have to say anything. Just waits.

[It’s one theory/explanation.]

Markannan has agreed on an extension, so he's off the trade market for a year.

It's been 30 days since rookies signed so they're all eligible to be traded such as Dalton Knecht.

If a Grant or Simons trade was pending on one of these things I'd expected it to get completed in the next week or two.

Otherwise we're likely stairing at the opening night Blazers roster being as is.

I think LeBron is gonna get back after the Olympics and be like, "WTF have you guys been doing while I was gone? Get it done."

I think it's August. I'm sure Joe and Pelinka or whoever the hell else Joe is in negotiations with will pick them up again with more urgency as we get into September and closer to training camp. I'm pretty sure most of us expected that if nothing was done by the end of Summer League we'd be waiting until the end of this month. That being said, who the hell knows, maybe we'll see a big deal get announced tomorrow... highly unlikely but again, who knows?

LeBron got 50 million reasons not to complain about his roster.

He only has 4 rings.

That's one short of Kobe and two short of MJ. You think he's content to just chill?
He’s gotta make sure his kid is set up. LA is probably best for him because lord knows NBA basketball isn’t. And LeBron seems like a bit of a helicopter parent (not wanting his kid to tarnish the brand)

As he should...

A lineup of Scoot, Sharpe, Avdija, Grant and Ayton has the potential to be pretty damn special.
But you realize the organization won’t let that happen, right? Not this year, anyway

I'd much rather have Suggs than Anthony. Probably not a possibility though.

I wouldn't consider a starting lineup projected as a bad lottery team to be "damn special"
The BLAZERS are projected as a bad lottery team, but mainly because it's expected that they won't allow that lineup to happen. That lineup with a good-to-great coach is at least a GOOD lottery team.

that's only fair....the Blazers traded their best player for him
I don't know why the Wizards did that. It's not like they needed to "tank".

I thought it would be a playoff team giving up a first for Brogdon.

two first round picks, quite possibly both in the lottery, for a player at the Brogdon/Grant level (RoCo deja vu?). Now, there's the upside factor since Avdija is 23; also the factor that he's on a budget contract for the next 4 seasons (guaranteed the Vulcans love that). The Wizards may have fucked up...they have that capacity. But apparently they evaluated Avdija's upside quite a bit lower than our optimistic takes out here

a lot of people did. Instead, the Blazers had to add two 1st's and two 2nd's to Brogdon to land Avdija. That may be predictive of the trade value of Grant-Ant-Ayton

I love how you sell it now as a potential lottery pick with value, but when we had acquired it, it was so far away that it's value was diminished. And you wonder why I consider you always a glass half empty poster.

I didn't sell a thing. I said it was "two picks, quite possibly both in the lottery". Is that false? And I was CLEARLY saying that in reply to another poster by talking about what may have motivated the Wizards to make that deal
