If Cronin passed on a FRP offer for Grant that was a mistake. His crappy efficiency this year may have teams no longer willing to go through with those offers.

There's very few playoff teams with filler contracts to match up with Grant. Lakers and Bucks could but I'm very skeptical their willing to mortgage a pick way off in 2029 or 2031 for him. Lakers are now nowhere close to contending so Cronin might have missed his chance.

If there were any offers for Ant Grant Ayton over the summer why didn't Cronin settle for the best offer then? It never made sense to enter the season with that trio on our roster.

All three of these guys are having one of the worst seasons of their career so I don't understand how any of them would have more value now than before.

Getting a FRP for any of these guys now seems extremely unlikely. At this point I'm just hoping we can trade one for a similar contract of a player that isn't entitled to minutes/shot/role.

Joe was a moron to resign JG, trade for DA, and not trade Ant when he was playing better.

Not sure if it's more funny or sad...

but let's say we draft Flagg - is he going to backup Jeremi Grant?

I can picture people here saying it's just temporary to boost Grants trade value.
 
Hate to say it but getting Flagg in POR is throwing pearls to swine.

Just depends. Not all 1sts are created equal. I'm pretty sure Cronin can get a 1st if he wanted from Dallas or Denver. The goal is to get a quality 1st like the Lakers. I would try to give them Robert Williams AND J. Grant to get their 2 1sts but if not, it will have to be the one for Jerami.

If it is this year's FRP then sure we can compare the equality of the FRPs. But if we are talking about 2027 and beyond how do we really know? Injuries and FAs can change things for certain teams quickly. The Lakers could add a star FA once LBJ retires or the Joker could get hurt that season, If you get a pick for this year's draft for Grant you take it. If you get one future FRP you also take it. But more importantly, we can't take a bad long-term contract back in the process.

Specifically, the Kings have their eyes on the Trail Blazers’ Jerami Grant, the Jazz’s John Collins, The Nets’ Cameron Johnson, and the Wizards’ Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Kuzma. Don’t be surprised if the Kings make a move to bring in more depth and talent, and with that, try to convince Fox they are trying to win with him (and get him to sign a four-year, $229 million extension this summer to stay in Sacramento).

Kings don't have a lot to offer for Grant. Heuter + Trey Lyles does offer the Blazers substantial cap and salary relief over the next 3-4 seasons. Kings don't have a 1st available till 2028. Problem is that trade would bump the Kings over the tax line; meaning they probably would demand significant protection on that 2028 first

I don't see how the Kings will be able to do much more than something like that unless they make DeRozan available. That would be a weird move because I'd think his market is really limited

Kings have been a franchise that does moves which don't make sense for decades. I'd certainly do many types of moves to get one of their FRP.
 
I wonder if the kings are soured on keegan's seeming lack of development beyond where he was and would look to move him instead of a pick.
Can also see Cronin more interested in a player over pick, ala Deni deal.

He is gonna ensure he makes an all nba team to get his bonus etc. Lings have to convince him they are all in to make the playoffs or else he bolts. They are below 500 right now. Not good. Sabonis is locked down and they got Derozen to win now. The only attractive assets are to give up picks and/or take back awful contracts. Murray is interesting but has regressed a bit; sac fans claim he is a bust. Been there done that. I don’t consider him a bust but what do I know ?

Seems they need defense. Timelord and Matisse??? Do they need Grant? Murray can’t shoot this year so 3pt shooting would help the team.

You can't "steal" a 3 time allstar who is clearly better than anybody on the Blazers roster and is 28 years old. It's as silly as all those Lakers/Knicks fans saying they wanted us to send them Dame in his prime.

Kings had to give up Haliburton for him, when he was 21 years old hitting 41% 3s.

We have Scoot at a similar age, two inches shorter shooting 27%, lol.

The problem with this Kings team is that they need another four rotational pieces. Grant is one player really wouldn’t be the right fit on a team that lacks depth. Grant made more sense last season before they added DDR.

Between Heurter and Lyles, that is $24.8m. Len’s $3.3m takes it to $28.1m, and adding Murray’s $8.8m would total $36.9m of contracts they are willing to trade.

How do we get a desirable package together to get a heavily protected or unprotected 1st?

- You have to add Williams’ $12.5m.
- Add Thybulle’s $11m and we get to $23.5m.
- This is where I think you have to add Banton and make them pay him to secure a better pick. His $2.2m would take the total contracts coming back at $25.7m.

Is there a player on the Lakers that could help the Kings making $10-12m right now? This deal would land secure a 1st from both Cali teams.

Kings do not need much to offer for Grant given how bad he is playing
 
As posted in Game thread - I've given up hope of Grant bringing back a FRP in trade. He's statistically not a starting level player this year.

At this point Cronin should try to get a contract that will be an expiring next summer like Middleton. It will be a disaster if we're stuck with Grant until 2028.
 
Thank goodness not all GM's just look at stats. Grant's game is well known after so many years in the league. Guy's don't make Olympic teams with their stats. It seems the only stat that matters in trades is salary.
Grant still has a few years left of being an above avg player and I'm sure other teams know he's probably lost interest playing in such a dysfunctional organization.

I doubt very much that they're interested in trading Keegan. He's only scoring less because of DeRozan - he's basically become their Toumani. Yes, his 3-point % has dipped, but I imagine that's seen as an aberration or part of the growing pains of integrating DeRozan.

And besides - if Keegan's stalled out in his development, you think CHAUNCEY is the coach he should go to?

Exactly. Most GMs understand how a change of scenery can invigorate a player. Especially a vet who has shown he is good but is currently on a team that is not fully invested in winning. No one will be evaluating his PER. Having said that no one will be giving us 2 first-round picks for him either.

I think we just have to do it the old fashioned way and wait for Shams to break trade news. It is all garbage out there unless you have a mole within an organization.
