He literally can’t guard anyone on the Pelicans roster. It’s not his fault. He just can’t. He’s seven feet and slow. If he’s going to be in the game he needs to score a lot more than 11 to justify getting P&R’d every possession.

He was fine in the 24 minutes he played. He wasn't the problem tonight.
 
Anthony Davis in suit reminds me that Dame didn't wear a suit like he has in past years.

Well what's really going to be interesting is if we don't get our shit together what this may do to our off season plans because of those kind of issues in this series. And I have no idea or faith if that's a good or a bad thing.

I don’t think he was the problem I’m just saying this is a brutal matchup for him if he’s not going to be able to dominate inside. If he isn’t then we’re better off playing Collins more to stretch the floor and having Ed play more because of his P&R defense. He’s not great but he’s better at defending the perimeter than Nurk.
 
I thought player movement on the offensive end was stagnant tonight. ET was leading many of these possessions. Dame has to be the facilitator for Nurk to be involved. Nurk, to me, is the key for Blazers success against the Pels. If the Pels double Dame, then come up to meet Dame, and stop sitting back with your head up your kazoo. MOVEEEEEEEE.

Can you imagine if it was off of him? With how little he impacted the team this season it would be like we are paying him 50mil to turn it over right there.
 
  • You KNEW the Pelicans would hedge/blitz Dame on the PnR....and yet I saw nothing that indicated that there was any more preparation for that then the rest of the year.
  • The 12-0 run before Tots would call a Time Out....about 6 points too late.
  • Meyers and Pat for 2-point shots when you are down '3' with no time outs.

WTH IS STOTTS DOING?

We hit the bounce pass around the free throw line to Aminu, Davis, and Nurk a lot...problem is, none of them can do anything with the ball from there. Aminu had a couple awful turnovers passing out of it and Nurk doesn't trust his jumpshot.

Davis is not the answer. He was abused by AD. He has no size to defend him. Atleast Nurk has the size to be successful against Davis. JUST DOES. The Blazers didn't exploit that, and it's on the coaches to correct it, and FAST.

Couldn't disagree more. We need to exploit our mismatches better not cater to their style. This was something Stotts would've done earlier in the season. Like @KingSpeed said, Nurk wasn't the problem. Even though he hit most of them tonight I'm fine with the strategy of letting AD take 15 foot jumpers. The defensive issue is the guards going over AD's pick allowing Rondo to attack the big and either commit which leaves the lob open or back off which gives Rondo a lane to the basket.

GUARDS NEED TO GO UNDER THE FUCKING PICK ON RONDO AND KEEP HIM IN FRONT. It's that simple. He is a master with the ball if he gets by you or has you trailing him. It's so freaking obvious and frustrating to watch. Seriously just play like 8 feet off of Rondo so they can't run a pick and roll. I'd actually rather have Holiday shooting 3's too instead of letting him get wherever he wants in the paint. He shot 33% from 3 this year.

The Nurk/Dame pick and roll is our only go to offensive play right now. Take Nurk out of the equation and all we have is one on one hero ball.
