What in your opinion, is a better equalisation strategy than a salary cap? A hard cap? The Australian NBL tried a points system for a few years. Every player was assigned a points value by league head office, and each team got a number of points to "spend". It lead to accusations of league head office undervaluing players that wanted to sign for big market teams. So the NBL reverted to a soft cap.
