I wonder if Nikoloklokas still thinks that the playoffs were a bad idea. I personally think this kind of playoff experience for a young team like this is invaluable. We can still find a way to nab a mid grade 1st rounder if we want. PA will open up the pocket books.

This playoff experience sure will help sign a big name free agent like Durant.

Not saying it's going to happen, just saying the chances absolutely have gone up since the start of April.

What happened to Harkless? Did he get hurt? Was it serious?

He didn't get hurt, as far as we know. Stotts just said Harkless looked uncomfortable out there and he wanted to see a different look so Henderson started the second half.

Good question. Nik said it would be "an unmitigated disaster" if we made the playoffs. Also, before the season started, he went on and on about how we were going to struggle to score and some, like Nate, still think that's an issue, but we just scored 120 in a playoff game against the champs. Scoring is not the problem. Defensive consistency is the key. When we defend, we win. Period. Every time against any team.

He got hurt in G2 and was held out of practice the past couple of days. He said he felt ok at the start of the game tonight but quickly realized he wasn't able to move as smoothly as he hoped and said it began to hurt like a mofo so Stotts pulled him.

It IS still an issue. We should have won game 2. We went ice cold in the 4th quarter, blew a double digit lead, and lost the game.

Aminu has had two good games in the playoffs. We have dominated in both of those games. But that's just 2 games out of 9. Scoring is an issue when you start three guys who aren't consistent scorers. I'm not sure what that has to do with whether it was good to make the playoffs or not.

My fear at the beginning was that we would barely squeak into the 8th spot and then get swept in the first round. We didn't get the 8th spot, and we didn't get swept, not even in the second round. That's a win in my book. I still disagree with people who talk as though a draft pick doesn't have value.

Where did you hear this? Stotts didn't mention it in the press conference.

Aminu has had a good playoffs overall. Two SENSATIONAL All Star level games and 7 other games in which he still did a lot to help the team. Just because you have a bad quarter like we did doesn't mean our offense isn't good overall. The 2000 team had a ton of scorers and we still blew Game 7. This current Blazers team is a juggernaut. Offense is not the issue.

I didn't say that we have a bad offense overall. I said that we will struggle, at times, to score. That's the nature of our team. We seem to either be really hot, or really cold.

The 2000 team blew game 7 because they didn't have a go-to guy. If that team had Lillard, we wouldn't have lost that series.

EVERY team in the NBA struggles, at times, to score.

Sheed wasn't considered a go to scorer?

Plums is a pretty good facilitator, but he is not a scoring threat. Aminu is a rich man's T-Rob, and Harkless is hoping to get there. Vonleh is even worse, and Crabbe is a poor man's Batum. (consistently inconsistent)

When you actually break it down, it is amazing how far Dame and CJ have carried this crew.

Aminu.... T rob..... Crabbe.... Batum.... What?

Having Lillard as an upgrade over Stoudamire should have put us over the top, but Lillard's shooting percentages in the 4th haven't been that good. Also, never understood the thing about "go to guy". If you're offense is working throughout the whole game, why do you all of a sudden have to stop and force feed one player?

Dick! Makes me sad just thinking about it. Lillard on that team...ohhh the humanity.

Ummmmm, Lillard doesn't stand outside the line dribbling 15 seconds off of the shot clock like Damon did. He drove me crazy, couldn't make easy passes with his tiny arms.

Damian Lillard playing on that team with legit scoring options everywhere? He could average 12 assists a game easy if he wanted to.

Fricking awesome win!!! Dame was amazing but I give a lot of credit to Chief and Ed Davis in this one...Chief played a great two way game all night! We're now 5-4 in playoff games....WINNING!!!! The crowd at the Moda Center was rockin'! Go Blazers!!!

Yep. I love how quickly this team can learn from mistakes. We played just like game 2 in controlling the game, but made adjustments and kept the foot on the gas until the end. After the season, and this playoff run, where we get better and better each game against the same opponent, I have zero doubts about Stotts being our longterm coach.

I know people have shared superstitions and I honestly have never had any. My brain just doesn't work that way. Thanks science. Ruining all of my superstitious fun. But, I didn't post in the thread during the game this time and I think I'm going to try it again.

Suddenly Denny hates superstition.......

I agree with your first part regarding scoring. We have to have a 3rd scorer or we struggle. People who say we have to have a center who can score are only partially right. We just need one of our front line players to be a consistent scorer. It could be a SF, PF or Center. We can't rely on Aminu being that guy though. We need him to be our 4th scourer if he is starting. We also can't rely on Dame getting 40.

Regarding the draft pick debate...... I would say 99.9 percent of fans know a draft pick has value. It's how much value that we question. We also know that playoff experience has value too. Again the debate is which has more.

I was just listening to Sirius radio last hour (Bleacher) and Desmond Mason was on talking about the Durant situation in OKC, and how it will be a snowball if he leaves. (If he leaves... Westbrook will leave) He said OKC will take years to recover. The comment that I found intriguing is when he said the lottery the last few years has "sucked". Not many player who can turn a franchise around. And for those who want to trade the lottery pick, the value of the pick has decreased as well.

Yes we need to build through the draft. The pick has value, but again how much value is the question, especially when looking at where we were going to pick. We can miss a year because Neil can find just as good of a young talent in FA then at #12 IMO.

It's funny that those drafts have that reputation, when you look at Dame (4 years ago), and CJ (3 years ago) in the playoffs again.
