The threads with the personal insults are my favorite (I know, I need therapy).

Is one allowed to personally insult themselves? If I lie and admit that I lied, can I call myself a liar?
 
To answer some of the question posted and a few thoughts.

This thread went as I thought it would.

Some of you acting like bad asses are some of the same ones who in the past have complained multiple times via PM's and/or flagging posts because of personal insults.

It doesn't really matter if you can handle any personal insult thrown at you. Other people see insults so they think it's alright to insult others. Things quickly get out of hand.

I sincerely asked for people to stop. Just because you refused doesn't mean it's okay for you to do it. S2 pretty much has one god damn rule (actually 2 if you count the no posting penis pictures of Oden) NO PERSONAL INSULTS.

Some of you have come from sites that had no rules and those sites devolved into endless argument and insult shit holes. Some of you came from sites had too many rules and moderators that didn't apply them equally.

I'm asking for you to follow the one rule we have here. If you enjoy S2 can you please try and do that.

If you can't stop insulting people then posts will have to be deleted or edited.

I'm saying please, I'm asking nicely. I don't want to see this place turn into another OregonLive.

As I understand it, it's OK to say whatever you want to about a post, but it's not ok to attack the poster. I've said before that this is a distinction that is somewhat lost on me, but it is what it is.

To get to the point, if I have it right, it is ok to respond by saying "That is nothing but a bunch of stupid fucking lies."
or
"That was one of the most idiotic things I've ever read on this forum."

That seems to make the same point that some would like to make, but doesn't attack the idiotic liar in doing so.

Listen SlyDog I'm with ya on the "Personal Insults" thing. Personal insults should not be tolerated in any forum but because S2 has such few rules it's going to be hard to stop. Your going to have to in-force more rules if you really want it to stop.
