I obviously hope I'm right with this but the Blazers might be one of the few teams willing to give up picks to take an expensive contract with multiple years left.

and you might be right. Jody Allen may be willing to spend a lot of money and pay a lot of tax. Trading Whiteside for Love would just about guarantee the Blazers are a taxpayer again next season, and to field a competitive team they might be a long ways over the line

I forget when the trade deadline is....iirc it might be around the 10th of Feb. So then, by mid January there might be a lot more hints about who is truly available and what teams might be willing to move on from a player that might fit well in Portland. And the rate the Blazers have been losing games, the more attractive their 1st becomes

I wonder if Pau would convince his brother to end his career with him in a Blazer uniform....that would rock having him back up Nurk and moving Skal and Zach to the PF position....Hassan to Toronto for Baby Gasol? How cool would it be for Marc to have Pau as his big man coach?

Gasol is integral to the Raptors and an extremely savvy player. His impact is much greater than his stats. They wouldn't have any interest in that exchange IMO

Honestly, that's a really cool idea!

At this point I am not looking to “fix” this team, just make it through the season.

No big contracts, just some talent or draft picks.

I admit I have never been great at trade equality as a Blazers fan, but here is what I would like to see.

Whiteside
Bazemore
Little

for

Love
Thompson

Add draft picks in either direction if needed. Blast away.

Go crazy trade:

Whiteside
Bazemore
Collins

For

Adams
Gallinari
Noel

Okie gets the young player they desire in Collins and we get stronger up front and bigger. We need some toughness which Adams gives. Lakers shoved us around like we were their little brother. Portland needs a toughness identity. It is all fantasy since NO isn't a team builder. He puts odd pieces together and calls it a day. Not a fan obviously.

This is an interesting trade.

I think there will be a lot more supply than demand

I believe you might have been one of them but I do know that there were posters in here that said essentially the same thing about Leonard, Harkless and Turner last off season and Olshey was able to move all three before the season.

Harrell makes like 6m, and hassan 27, so a lot more would have to be involved and I strongly doubt that straight up even without the salary stuff theyd do that trade, straight up.
I don't care how they do it....I like Harrell way more than Hassan....or trade Skal for Harrell...I don't do the trade machine stuff.

Dont get me wrong I like Harrell too, but I dont think there is even a slight chance that we have anything that could make it work, maybe, thats more of a hoopsjock or scalma question, but just the baseline numbers, its gonna be hard to get a team to give up a guy who has like a per of 24 on 6m a year.

why on earth would the Clippers trade the core component of their bench from hell for no defense garbage?

Yeah, have Olshey call the Clippers and propose that trade. I believe Lawrence Frank and Michael Winger would straight up drop the phone while laughing their asses off!

Well they could throw in Paul George or Kawhi Leonard as salary filler.

If you start a trade thread....I guess my wish lists aren't welcome....oh well...Harrell was rumored to be on the block a while ago.....let's make that me wanting PG or Kawhi….that adds to the story. Is this a thread for discounting ideas or just a practice session for future GMs?

Thanks for the civil response....

Why do it? Because Jrue is (a) a very good player, and (b) provides us with a lot of things we need, notably defense and ball handling.
"But our best two players are already 6'3" guards!"
True, but Holiday can almost certainly guard 1 through 3, and I'd be happy with having him guard SFs if the SF has to guard him
"But Simons is our best young player! Why mortgage the future!"
Because I'm tired of all our good players being terrible at defense.
"He can learn!"
In theory, but in practice crappy defenders always stay crappy. Plus we have to give ups SOMETHING to get Holiday and I'd rather give up Simons than a first rounder.

I'd love Harrell but he wasn't on the block so I'm not sure what you're referring to. There's as much chance they'd trade Harrell as PG and Kawhi.

yes...he was rumored to be on the block...read it on NBA com and Portland was attached to the rumor...that was about 10 games inot the season..but hey...I'm sure you have reasons for doubting it..at the time I didn't know who he was...I do now....today it's Kevin Love rumors again...editorials are like that...

As someone who doesn't want to trade Simons this type of trade is very tempting if the Hornets offered.

The main thing that gives me pause is making win now type moves like this doesn't make a lot of sense given the injuries and then adding all the tax implications of taking back more salary and having to also add two more players to the roster.

I'm sorry but you're mistaken.

I'm sorry but you're mistaken.
it was a rumor......a civil response hoop would be...."Sorry, I didn't read that rumor"..it was the first time I'd heard the guy's name so I looked him up then...didn't give it much thought until I saw him play. With this, I"ll leave you to your own takes and remove myself from the conversation…..I'm sure you've read all the rumors this season about Blazers gm moves....I know I haven't
