Question about Roy

If he hasn't officially retired yet, and we haven't used the amnesty on him, why can't we trade him to a team who wants to have him retire and come off their books?

So why was there all that talk of Rasheed offering to be traded before retiring for the Celtics last summer? Is it different because this is a medical retirement and Rasheed was just forgoing his contract?

Or they (Blazers organization) would need the league to grant them a Disabled Player Exception for Roy, allowing them a 1-year, $5 million exception. The Blazers said they filed over the weekend the paperwork to get the Disabled Player Exception process in motion.

Exactly. Voluntary retirement and medical retirement are completely different.
