I've missed the last few games...and thank god apparently. All I'm going to comment about is, why does everyone keep saying. "And we're getting nothing from Etem"? What in his past ever made ANY of you think he would do anything? He's been awful his entire career, and that continues now with us. Our "depth" was contingent on a lot of players stepping up into bigger roles, and so far none of them have. I never expected Etem to do anything so his lack of anything isn't disappointing, it's spot on for his career. However, Kreider, Hayes and Miller have NOT stepped up and Nash has been a complete joke. Offensively this team lacks shooters and finishers and anyone willing to get a dirty goal and give up their body for it. Defensively, this is an AV team. Lack of physicality, emphasis on counter attack and moving the puck. This is a weakness in his system, especially in the east. The east is more physical compared to the west, and his system doesn't do well when faced with physical forechecking. Look at all his past great Canucks teams. Every time they lost, it was typically against a great forechecking team that his system couldn't figure out for one reason or another. I think he's a great offensively minded coach, we just need someone here to sure up our defensive play, because right now, Ulf isn't getting it done. It is what it is. We've had success in the past. Either this team pulls it's head out of its ass and remembers how to play defense, which I still believe will help the offense because if they can get out of their zone quicker and easier it should lead to better off man rushes and better counters, or we flounder and barely make it into the playoffs. Still plenty of time to figure it out, but that window CAN close rapidly if we need to make a trade and don't want to get screwed out of potentially good young players. I'd still rather move Staal than Yandle, as Staal is a total waste. He has zero offensive skill and defensively his only move is to stick his stick out and watch the opposition skate past him.
