BORAT
8/10
Very funny but for all the hype I guess I was expecting more.

The Guardian - 8/0

It was surprisingly good, Ashton Kutcher came through.

I saw Catch Me If You Can lastnight on ABC with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Great movie.

8.4/10

Crash: 8.2/10

Anyone else get annoyed at how "preachy" this movie is? Bugged the crap outta me the whole way through.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I?ll never forget when the movie ?Crash,? hit the big screen in America. Everyone from critics to everyday people deemed it as a ?must see film,? that ?would open up the eyes of American people about racism.? Since I consider myself a pretty ?socially aware? individual, I decided to check it out. I do admit that I enjoyed the movie, but after watching it I was somewhat disappointed. I wasn?t disappointed at the movie itself, but more of the way that the public reacted to it.
What did this movie really bring out to the light that most of us with common sense already knew? Was it shocking to see a cop pull over a black man and his wife and harass them? Was it shocking to see politicians using various methods of trickery to influence the public?s opinions? Was it a shock to see the ignorance of people?s knowledge on certain people?s cultures and racial backgrounds?
No, it shouldn?t be shocking, but for some strange reason it was a ?shock? to most movie goers that watched this film. Although it was a good film, I seriously doubt that a 2 hour movie can change the opinions and views of those who found this movie ?shocking.? The only thing shocking is that we still live in a country of prejudice people who have no clue of what really goes on. If it takes a movie for people to get the point then that just tells me that things haven?t changed much in America.
The reaction the public had to this film, sort of reminds me of everyone?s reaction after Hurricane Katrina. I?ll never forget the news stations headlines of ?Is this a matter of race?? It was almost like they were laughing in my face, when deep down anyone with an ounce of intelligence knew that race and poverty had a lot to do with the situation in New Orleans. This trend of ?not knowing,? is starting to become a popular (and rather annoying) fad in American society.
American culture is a whole lot of talk with no action behind our words. We talk about the racism through films and television programs, but rarely do we act on fixing these problems. After Katrina destroyed New Orleans, everyone was quick to help in a time of need, but I knew that that help would only last for so long. Fast forward a year later and my predictions were correct. We live in a society where people get caught up in the moment, but we never seem to learn the lessons from that moment, and the same problems happen over and over again.
So although I enjoyed the movie ?Crash,? I don?t view it as anything that will change peoples views on certain groups of people, it?s just another ?moment? that American people are fixated on. Until we make changes to our entire social system (from the education to the judicial) ignorance will still rear its ugly head in American society.

It was a mini-rant, but you get the point

yeah, I had the same reaction. After the movie was over, I was like "so the message of this movie is all people are racist in their own ways? - wow, shocker"
That's cool that you study psychology. I also am interested in it though I don't study it formally. You can learn actually quite a bit about psychology from a message board such as this.

Smokin Aces - 9/10

This was a damn good movie. Great storyline, and good acting. Alisha Keys is SMOKIN in this movie.

I was thinking about watching it, does the storyline ramble on where there's a stunning revelation in the end? If so, no thanks. I gotta agree though,Alicia Keys is......damn.

Epic Movie - 7/10 - The beginning wasn't all that great, but the movie got funnier as it went along. Not too shabby of a movie at all.

Pan's Labyrinth - 9/10 - Spanish movie here, but a great movie. Very unique storyline, unlike most things I've seen from American films. Loved the movie from beginning to end.

7.5/10

Good movie, not what I expected. The only downer in it? Nicolas Cage's acting.

Co-sign. I loved the look of this film; very special indeed.

I saw Smokin Aces....started off promising....but then took itself too seriously at the end. You can't be a stylish film like that then twist and turn and try to drop a drama ending...didn't work for me.

5.5/10

For about the fifteenth time now ..

Am?lie - 10/10

You should watch that documentary by those two French guys who came to the US to originally make a film about US firefighters. I forget the name, but if you haven't seen it, it is way better then the money making crap about 9/11. Those sick shits should be ashamed to make money off that disaster.

Children of Men - 10/10

This was probably the best movie I've seen in the past year and I can see why Clive Owen turned down Casino Royale to act in it. The director did a great job making parallels with contemperary political/social issues and some of the scenes were real powerful (when they walk through the soldiers). And, unlike Crash or V for Vendetta, it didn't come across as preachy. I highly recommend it.

Carlito's Way- 8.5/10

Beerfest- 8/10

Employee of the Month- 7/10

Talladega Nights- 6/10

M what are you trying to say? It was a good movie and it portrayed the lives of two PAPD officers. It wasn't about 9/11 in general. I think it was very well done and very respectful.

The Green mile - 10/10

I have actually seen this movie several times before, but I just had to say this is by far the best movie ever made. Just gold.

last night in paris 2/10 haha j/k

i saw epic movie id say a 5/10 they kill the jokes too mcuh and its the same as the scary movies

ahh i cant wait for that eddie murphy movie

It was still made for money off of a disaster. This is the same problem with all of those WWII games coming out every few weeks. It may have come and gone, but these sickos are still making money off of the death and torment of others.

Not really familiar with this latest one, but I found that "Flight 93" (or something) movie to be sickening. I agree with M, it's all just a cash grab. You knew that a month after the disaster, movie producers were thinking of when the timing was right to release a big budget, patriotic, tear-jerker.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Hannibal Rising - had to go see it by myself, because all of my homies were busy......but it was definitely worth the lonely trip.......if you love Hannibal/Silence of the Lambs series (I'm a big fan myself) then you'll definitely enjoy this......I already knew about Hannibal's past (family being killed during WWII), but the movie did a really good job of laying out the plot, and young hannibal (whatever his name is) did good also (although he's not Anthony Hopkins...lol)

These movies help people make sense of the events. By placing them in a storyline format, we get the context of how it happened and the big picture. This has gone on since forever.

I think for 9/11 movies a lot of the money went to charity, not exactly sure. The war games are really just fictional stories based on the actual War, its not really a big deal, its entertainment. Some people are just entertained by war.

Norbit- It was pretty funny, I give it a 7.8/10
