They played at Bonnaroo, you know. From what I've heard, they had one of the better sets.

Yeah, I missed the first two days, so I missed Tool, and pretty much 90% of the bands I wanted to see. I wonder where Walrus found them though.

Actually it was a weird process. lol I actually originally heard them a couple years ago on an info-mercial late at night selling guitars with that one dude that wears the zorro mask. lol I was pretty amazed but i didn't catch their names.

Then later on i came across them listening to BBC(British radio station) Ironically they reached like number 1 in Ireland but not there home country of Mexico. But anyways i saw them on Vh1 again one night. Decided to download the album which is pretty sweet.

They also do covers of Pink Floyd, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin.
Oh, also saw them on Letterman

Great sig Voodoo btw! you make that?

I just love Leigh Nash's voice. I'm glad that she keeps singing after the "fall" of Sixpence None the Richer.

I love these guys. Very cool, relaxed type of music.
I love when they team up with DMB.

It was alright for what it was. It's very minimal, and while I appreciate her voice I don't appreciate how the song never climaxes. It just stands ground throughout. Very repetitive and boring in that sense.

Kraftwerk - Autobahn

Ah, those crazy Germans. Well, I'm German too. Anyway, I bet you'd like their old song for the Tour de France. They're big fans of cycling.

Kraftwerk - Autobahn - A

Originals. What else can I write? Let's see, they inspire almost any artist to this day that use electronic sounds in their music. Anything from hip-hop artists to techno artists to indie artists; their inspiration was endless and their talent was unlimited, especially in their earliest days. This song in particular is great, but no where near my favorite. Still deserves an A though. You can't argue with that ****** up video, don't even get me started.

Next song is from Vitalic - Trahison

Invalid Video Link

I decided to keep the electronic music going here with my personal favorite. In most of his tracks you can just hear the inspiration of Air and Daft Punk pushing together with something fresh, unique and even emotional. A rare talent is Pascal Arbez. One of my five favorite songs of all-time from any artist.

It's just the same techno beat....over and over and over again. sometimes it picks up a lil, but essentially its the same thng over and over again. I didnt like it.

Ben Harper

One of my favorite musicians. He's just fantastic and the king of slide guitar.

Ben Harper - Better Way - B-

Ben's not my favorite artist in the World, but he definitely has some great tracks. My fianc?e is a fan as well. This track in particular is not my favorite, I don't like that he doesn't mix it up until the climax and goes on and on with the boring chorus. I also never liked that screaming bit, I always found it a bit pathetic. I like the old vibe for the most part though, something you can chill out to. Also about the slide guitar, from all I've heard over the World, I'd say somewhere around top 20 at best IMO.

New song is from Venus - Running At Full Speed

Invalid Video Link

The four man orchestra in all of their glory. Also just to get this out of the way, those are the real instruments and not electronic produced. La Girolline are the guest choirs. For how strange it is to mix orchestra with indie and Irish, something so peaceful can be so strangely dark. Typical Venus in that sense. Check the lyrics:

The demons try to catch me
They're coming so close to me
All those eyes that are holding me back
I can't talk, I can't shout

All those hands holding me
I'm so cold and you're not here
I go down to the bottom of the abyss
I'm sinking into the darkness

Running at full speed when I fall

Oh my God I feel alone
Above my head a scarlet veil
Turns around my head and rips my veins
Tepid blood flowing on my hands

I slowly strangle her and see
A red river leaving its stream
Drowing plains and flowing into the sea
I feel like I'm falling free

Running at full speed when I fall

It was alright, definitely nothing close to their other stuff I've heard. The whole lyrical content was way too repetitive as were the strings. I liked his voice though, as it fit the lyrics quite good. Very convincing.

Sounded pretty good, id be interested in hearing other songs.

Now I thought I'd go some old school White Stripes (one of my favorite bands)

Don't bail out after a minute guys, It gets real good IMO. I think it's a real pretty song, I mean who would ever think to do a rock cover of Dolly frickin Parton. haha I love Jack White

The live version of this isn't nearly as good as the studio. The studio version is just amazing, but this one didn't have the same emotion in it, almost like he was tired after doing a bunch of other songs in the set beforehand.

The fact that he chose this song to cover never really surprised me though. After all, the guy works with Loretta Lynn and Billy Gibbons. He's got ecclectic tastes, and he lives in Nashville, the country music capitol of the world.

B+ I like "On Call" a lot better. I don't feel this song much, and it seems to just repeat itself. Once again, I hate one of VC's song, and now he'll probably call me an ansty 12 year old with ADD again

He needs to stop. He's never done any good work outside of Sabbath. He really needs to fade into obscurity like other rock legends of his day. It's very disappointing to see such foolishness be shown by a man that shaped a lot of heavier rock music.

Anyhoo...

Tool - Ticks & Leeches

The drumming is so friggin' intense here. I love Danny Carey and this is one of his highlights. The man to put every other drummer to shame.

I love this song, if you dont tap your foot or nod your head at least once. Your NOT human. lol

You know, I usually don't like these guys. I've always thought their fans overrate the hell out of them, but I really enjoyed this song. They're not that great from a technical point of view, but they write some pretty decent power-chord pop-rock songs. The singer's voice isn't all that great though.

Yes is good though. I'm not a fan of all their work, but I'd say around 25-50% of what they've done is great. The rest is just too poppy for me.

Alright well I'm gonna throw up another Ben Harper cuz the dudes awesome. And this one is is somewhat basketball related. What do you guys think?

I've never been much for the US national anthem as it is quite boring as opposed to other countries anthems, but that was friggin' awesome! He tore it up every which way, and I loved the huge distortion at the end. Bill looked like he was enjoying it there at the end.

I was watching 300 last night at my buddies house, and afterwards I came back home and relistened to the whole 300 soundtrack. One of the best of the year by far. Tyler Bates is a mastermind. Here's a little peak...

The Subways- Oh Yeah

I like the guy's voice. It's perfectly imperfect, it that makes any sense, sort of like the lead singer of Kings of Leon... it's not technically great, but I like the sound of it. Musically, there's not too much to these guys. They're amazing live though. In a live performance, I would have given this song an A+, because these guys have tons of energy on stage.

BTW - Is it just me, or is there a lot of similarities in the album cover for The Subways' original Young for Eternity release and Mr. Bungle's California? I wonder if that's why The Subways changed their cover.

After listening to KOL and few other songs this one had a tough act to follow.

I really like Bloc Party and if your interested in more of their stuff you should check out their first album "Silent Alarm". It's not that there second one sucks, it's just that you cant beat the original. in my opinion.

L.A. Song - A

Great song. I don't know what I like better honestly, these guys or Jane's Addiction. Avery's voice really makes it like comparing apples and oranges though, because it's a complete 180 from Perry's.

I guess the Peppers sort of killed these guys when they let Dave join? I noticed that's about the time when Deconstruction broke up and Avery went on to do all that weird stuff with Alanis Morisette. I wonder if it was because of Dave leaving to go work with the Peppers or if they had already broken up.

Wolf Like Me - A+

This is probably the best track off of Return to Cookie Mountain, but still, I thought the entire album on the whole was a huge let down after Desperate Youth, Bloody Thirsty Babes. I still think that "Staring at the Sun" is one of the greatest songs of all-time. That and "Dreams" were brilliant. They sort of went into more of a modern rock direction with Return though. It seems like there's less loops and keyboards in their new stuff.

The live version of that song is great too, btw. They put on a very energetic show.

New Song:

Smashing Pumpkins - Today

Invalid Video Link

I know this song's not technically about nitrous, but that's the context that me and my friends have always seen it in. It goes perfect with NO2 tripping, so much so that it's kinda eerie, especially with the video. I'm convinced that's where Corgan got the inspiration for it.
