Rumor Report: Owner Paul Allen investigating whether Trail Blazers’ problem is roster or coaching

There were other reasons. Cho wasn't the leader needed. For one thing, he was afraid to talk. Allen took others' advice in hiring him, soon realized Cho wasn't up to it, then spent a year researching it himself and doing the hiring himself (while the Oregonian heckled).

I think Neil is having his Trader Bob rush right about now...this guarantees roster moves...

Whitsitt would excel in today's CBA, just as he did then. He was a brilliant GM who could get something out of nothing, and was destroyed by Oregonian peanut-brain moralists.

Bullshit. Complete, and utter bullshit.

Whitsitt destroyed himself. He built a championship roster (the best roster money can buy) and after one poor shooting 4th quarter, panicked, blew it up and couldn't stop meddling.

The team was mediocre before Whitsitt got fired. He made it that way. First round fodder his last three seasons in Portland.

We know by the fact you haven't changed your avatar photo in 20 years that you're a Whitsitt apologist, but stop trying to rewrite history. I won't allow it.

You hated Whitsitt even while he was GM. You see the consequences since he left. If he was so bad, why did the team immediately sink into a pit and never recover? The Blazers should have entered a golden, sunny time, if he was so bad. History has proven you absolutely wrong. An ordinary person would climb under a wet rock and hide with the Oregonian worms, but you continue to spew doctrine about how bad the team was under Whitsitt, contrary to history.

What happened to your comrade-in-arms ProudBFan, who worked in the same room as you, if I recall correctly. He led the war on the ESPN board to purge the team, and you were a lieutenant. So were crandc and about 5 others. An equal number, including Maris and me, led the side of virtue against you evil-doers.

Coaching very well could be a problem. But I would start with the General Manager. I quit being high on Neil back in the summer of 2014. The man is all hot air no action. He has no creativity and again we are dealing with an imbalance problem on the roster. Last year it was wings, this year it’s bigs and it’s as if this owner and GM is oblivious to it. For god sakes Neil make a meaningful trade already that puts this team in contention! You now have received two extensions and neither were earned IMO.

The team and this owner is wasting their time with Olshey. I have lost total interest in the team because I see right through him. He is very incompetent. And I have no doubt he gives the owner more reasons why he can’t do something instead of how he can. And Paul buys right into it. Neil just isn’t that good and yes I would gladly take Trader Bob back. There isn’t anything he couldn’t do is a part of the job description.

Neil needs to go. Balance the roster out and give Stotts the pieces, he may have success.

Olshey killed himself when he paid McCollum triple what he's worth. Think of how those vast sums could have been used. It's like, we could go to Mars if we didn't have the useless Iraq War. Smug McCollum is the most overrated Blazer in history. All those trillions of dollars...

Who to change...GM, coach, or some players...it's all 3. Coach would be my choice for first in order, but seeing any order would be a miracle.

Bored with no change by the GM, I stopped watching late last season after Nurkic went out, and flirted with new teams this Fall, but they have less talent than the Blazers (because they aren't in salary hell). It looks like other fans are catching up to me, and will eventually affect ticket sales.

No one is catching up to you because a vast majority of them will still watch the team, just not go to the game.

I'd worry if I were you. Mediocre Man is 73 posts behind you.

all I can say is what the heck took him so long? Its about friggin time!

The blame starts with the head coach and ends up at the end of the bench. We can also blame Allen for being a cheap skate. Fans have feeling too.

I know everybody gives stotts shit and yeah he does dumb shit sometimes but it’s honestly the talent. Just not enough of it outside of dame and cj, nurks not doing great. Only role players doing consistently well this season are Davis and aminu. Every other player is inconsistent or they just don’t show up. So you either trade cj and get some players who can play in return or try and make trades, get some actual players on the team around dame and cj
Can't we keep Patty? He's a go getter. Napier is ok with me. Turner is the one that irritates me.

We are in full treadmill mode. We can't wait for Collins to develop.

CJ/Dame just isn't a good duo to build around.

Stotts is a middling coach. He's good at getting the most out of his talent, but I don't think he's on the same level as a Kerr or a Pop. We don't have a LeBron to make the coach irrelevant.

At this point, I'd fire Stotts and crew. Trade CJ. Give Neil one more summer to pull it all together or he's gone too.

I'm assigning blame as 2/3 Neil and 1/3 Stotts. Neil put this poor and unbalanced roster together and paid a very steep price. I'd fire him first, Stotts is stuck with this and some of the players really don't fit his system well - I still would not mind a replacement for him either.

Turner is the worst move neil did. that kill him, he's contract is worse than meyers

Down the road when we flip Nurkic, Bridges, Walker IV, Bowen, and multiple picks for AD, we'll be fine. Collins will be getting 17/10/4 and Davis, CJ, and Dame will average 25ppg+.

(My posting style + Kingspeeds posting style)

It seems to me that NO tried to build a version of the Warriors with the rejects and [perceived] undervalued, but paid some as though they were neither.

He is trying to build a Nordstrom team with Wal-Mart talent. Change is needed.

Replace NO and Stotts with Trajan Langdon and Ime Udoka.
