The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Premier Partnerships, a sports sales advisory firm, to help in the search for a Rose Garden naming rights partner, the team announced today.

McGowan says there has been roughly five potential suitors who have shown interest, though talks have only been preliminary up to this point. He says he's hopeful a naming rights deal will be struck before the 2013-14 NBA season kicks up.

In mid-November, McGowan told CSNNW.com that selling the naming rights to the arena could omit the name "Rose Garden." However, McGowan said it is soley contingent on the buyer on whether they choose to include it or not.

Team Press Release.......

Premier specializes in the development and execution of customized commercial sales strategies for top tier facilities, and are an industry leader in highly specialized naming rights sales. Their naming rights client portfolio has included properties from all of the major sports leagues, including some of the most visible sports facilities in the country. They have also been recognized as Sports Business Journal’s Best in Property Consulting, Sales and Client Services.

“Finding a naming rights partner for the Rose Garden is one of our priorities entering the new calendar year. It’s a critical partnership for us that will have a long-term impact on our franchise,” said Trail Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan. “Working with Premier will bolster our search process and extend our reach. We’re confident that we will find a partner that the city of Portland and the Trail Blazers brand can proudly associate with.”

Premier’s naming rights successes for sports venues include the Oakland A’s and Raiders’ O.co Coliseum, the Philadelphia Union’s PPL Park, San Diego State University’s Viejas Arena and (former) Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, TX. Premier also secured the naming rights of Dolby Theatre (home of the Academy Awards) and TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre).

Comcast Arena - cuz they basically own the team and its' fans!

Might as well own the arena's name, too.

I like the name Rose Garden and it sucks they're changing it...

Viagra Garden!

How about the Cialis Center? If they name it that, then I'm okay. Because that wouldn't be embarassing at all.

The Nike Rose Garden.

There, called it.

Since the rose garden has already stuck with you guys, you will keep calling it that (No one calls the Dome "Mall of America Field", what a fuucking stupid name). But the TV and Radio guys will HAVE to call it that which is annoying. And people not from your state will call it by the new name. Just like how a lot of people still call it mile high in denver. It used to be invesco field and now its sports authority field.

If they put in that nausea-inducing floor they installed at UofO I'll never watch another home game. Thanks to comsuck, I can't get the games now, so it won't change much.

Whomever names it loses my business for life. Hard to tell Portland from any other slumburg anymore. Most Portlanders are transplanted from LA now.

You guys who are crying about this do know that the NBA and the Trail Blazers is a business, right?
The more profitable the business side is, the more likely Paul will spend more on the basketball side.

Ya, I don't get it either.

The only thing I can think of is that the management team has made mistake after mistake, and some of them have embarrassed the city. Maybe fans are worried about that aspect?

If somebody tried to paint your house without your permission you might be upset too

I'm sure they'll take that into consideration. And then a second later laugh at it because it's such a pointless thing to threaten to do.

Yes. We could end up with the Trojans Ribbed For Her Pleasure Con-Dome. Or worse.
