I doubt the nba would even allow lbj to come here, it would be bad for the league like when pdx/sea got the first 2 draft picks lol

I'm so tired of that narrative. THE LEAGUE OWNED THE FRANCHISE. They vetoed the trade because they didn't think it was the best deal for the franchise, not just because they didn't want the Lakers to have him. They vetoes the Chris Paul to Lakers trade. They can do whatever they want. The front office is like the producers on "Survivor." They can change the rules as they go along.
It was sarcasmHow would they stop it...?
Yeah, because they had ownership of the Hornets at the time. So Stern vetoed the trade as the acting owner. They vetoes the Chris Paul to Lakers trade. They can do whatever they want. The front office is like the producers on "Survivor." They can change the rules as they go along.
Exactly man. You can tell how much somebody paid attention to the NBA based on their opinion on that issue.I'm so tired of that narrative. THE LEAGUE OWNED THE FRANCHISE. They vetoed the trade because they didn't think it was the best deal for the franchise, not just because they didn't want the Lakers to have him.

The proposed trade would have sent Paul to the Lakers, Pau Gasol to the Rockets and furnished New Orleans with three top-flight NBA players in Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Lamar Odom as well as playoff-tested guard Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round pick that Houston had acquired from the Knicks.
Blurry picture or it didn't happen.I'm hearing a rumor that Lebron has been spotted in Portland. I wonder if this means he wants to play for us?
Bron to Portland is real.Bron says, “Yo”.

I think you're forgetting the contract issues. The LAL one, IIRC, had multiple players with multiple years of high salaries left. Just as the NBA was trying NOT to take on long-term salary so that they could sell the team.In hindsight, the Lakers offer was probably better.

They ended up with - "The Clippers will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul. The Clippers will also receive two future second-round picks." The pick ended up being Austin Rivers. Aminu was gone in 2014. Kayman only played one year in NO. Rivers only played two years in New Orleans before being traded..... to the Clippers. Gordon was in New Orleans for five years and never played more than 64 games.
That pick that would have been sent over in the Lakers trade ended up being at #12 (Jeremy Lamb). Dragic is still the best player out of the bunch... neither trade was especially great though.
Lebron is just one Paul Allen Yacht submarine rock concert away from ripcity
