so according to a big rockets forum, the ref's screwed houston in game 2 (sounds familiar) and joey crawford has it in for houston and single handedly gave the game to portland, joel is now the most hated man in houston (he's apparently the biggest flopper in all of basketball, and all he does is foul yao all game without getting called...), at least one fan thinks portland fans were jerks for giving deke a standing ovation while being carted off and he thinks portland was in poor taste during that moment. and yao never fouls roy on his drives, he just stands there with his hands straight up and b roy just whines after every play (although i do agree roy whines for calls alot)

it's amazing how 2 different fan bases see the same game(s). i will say though, i do like their mascot better than blaze.

Why are we jerks for giving him an ovation? Would they rather us boo him off the court?

Yeah, the refs are so slanted against the Rockets..... and every singe one of our big men were in foul trouble. Oden fouled out, Joel and LMA had five fouls each. Give me a break. They're right, Yao has his hands up when Roy drives, but he bodies Brandon. He isn't jumping straight up and down.

Rockets fans are pretty intense. My bro went to a Rockets game and said they have some crazy ass fans...like those male cheerleader dudes.

:tsktsk:

Yao should have fouled out in the 1st half
Houston was in the penalty and shooting free throws within 5-6 minutes of every quarter but 1! And there were not going to the hoop. Obviously, they started attacking once the penalty was there, but it was crazy.
The refs were terrible in the 1st and got progressively decent throughout.
We still had substantially more points in paint while shooting less ft's(the 6-8 we shot at the end dont count, houston was in foul mode)

Same shit from game 1.

They're either idiots or are blind if they think they got screwed by the refs. Outside of the one Joel flop, the calls have been going in their favor all series long.

well only like one or 2 fans said that, everybody else said portland fans were good about it.

oh, and they still don't know if they like aaron brooks or not. he's their version of steve blake, half love him, half hate him

I don't know what's to hate about Brooks in this series. Dude has been on fire.

Jesus, we'll take him if they dont want him.

apparently he's not a pg, and can't get the ball into yao when he's being fronted. him making big shots doesn't negate his TO's towards the end of the game. same reasons we love/hate blake.

I guess every fanbase has their mixums who have no idea what the hell they're talking about. He's been their second best player, and at times, their best.

Well, he's a scorer. He's a much better scorer than Blake has been in this series. He's not really a pure point guard, but he's also only in his second season. He has room to grow. But yeah, I see the parallels.

there have been many times since the alston trade where lowry has badly outplayed brooks.

i mean, right now brooks is on fire and hitting tons of shots. the rockets have to ride it while they can. but lowry is a smarter player and better at getting the ball where it needs to be. once brooks cools off, the minutes will go back to being split basically evenly between the two.

it's hard to argue with what brooks has done thus far in the series, but that won't continue even with blake and sergio trying to guard him.

Don't you agree that if Yao jumps straight up in the air with his hands raised, it is not a foul when Roy drives into him? I want to see all the fouls Yao supposedly got away. Some Blazer fans can surely put together a nice video compilation of it.

And there was one guy on that board (CF.net, right?) who criticized the crowd for their standing ovation. Everyone else thought he was crazy, and recognized it as a classy move.

It's all the times Yao's hands moved forward when Roy was driving inside that are fouls. Believe us, with as many times as Oden got called for that bullshit in the regular season, we're pretty much experts on how to foul a big guy out.

Anyway, there were only a couple of times I felt Yao really should have gotten a foul but didn't; it was fucking SCOLA who should have had 6 fouls by the end, even though he only had four. And even more than that, I'm just really pissed at Joey Crawford for changing calls well after the plays are done, trying to ice LMA in the 4th at the line by having a huddle after handing LMA the ball then taking it away from him, reviewing an obvious 3-pointer by Brooks which gave Houston time to set up their defense against Portland...

...really, Crawford's a big asshole. I yelled at his pasty head all night.

I think the calls in the last 3 minutes favored the Blazers, but overall it favored the Rockets. The problem is that Roy gets bumped on nearly every drive and doesn't get the call but Brooks, Wafer, and others do get the call. It was also fairly obvious they weren't going to foul Yao out, but that isn't a big surprise. I can see Rockets' fans perspective if they just focus on the last 3 minutes, but the game is 48 minutes long.

If there is one thing that Portland fans are known for, it's that we know the game and respect it. When Joe Dumars dad died, we gave a cheer of moral support. When Damon Stoudamire blew out his knee a few years ago (as a member of the Grizzlies), you could hear a pin-drop, it was so quiet.

I don't think, even if it was Kobe, that the Portland fans would ever do anything stupid when a player gets injured. Sure, we have our share of fans (on here) who claim to have irrational hatred of Kobe, or the Lakers (or other players), but we all know that if a player goes down with an injury (esp if they're carted off), we respect them.

"there is not enough words in the english language to describe how much
i hate this guy! flopping all over the place, talking $H#@T to and about yao, and the other antics he pulls! hes just a punk!!!!"

"Wannabe thug who talks loud but would probably cry like a little girl with a scabbed knee if you so much threaten him."

"I urge everyone going to the game on Friday to talk sh&^ to this guy and bring clever posters! I will be sitting 12 rows behind the TrailHaters bench....it's on!

Kids....bring your ear-muffs!"

LOL

I can understand why other teams' fans would hate Joel, but to say would cry like a girl if you threatened him is hilarious considering he has never backed down from anyone when an altercation has started.

You mean like Lowry did to Greg Oden?

There's such a thing as fouling with the body. On multiple occasions I saw Yao body Roy while he was in the air.

I'm pretty sure Joel is one of the few guys who would gladly go to blows with anyone who decided that they wanted a piece of him. I've even seen him assume a boxing stance at one point this season. The guy has trained with professionals in the offseason, and he would be ready.

After reading through more of that thread, it makes me want to start a thread titled "IM SO FUCKING GLAD MUTOMBO'S CAREER IS OVER"

And then talk about how much we hate him... however, that would be in poor taste.

the last 20 seconds of that were great.

Clutch is way better than Blaze. He is really funny. The chearleader eating act is priceless. He has scared the living hell out of my wife and kids twice.

When we get to sit in my company seats he has sat on my wifes lap and made out with her through the mask. Cool guy though, he always asks first if the guy minds. Some guys have said no and he just moves on.

Although I do agree that some calls did favor the Rockets, I feel that the reffing for the whole 48 minutes was somewhat incosistent. Yes, we got our calls on our drives, but I feel as if they were being too inconsistent. Throughout the entire game, if anyone got touched they called the foul, towards the end they let the players play a bit more loose. There was one play where Battier had his hand in Roy's face, and Roy got the call which I felt was total bullshit. It was in the 4th quarter I think. But overall, reffing was total bullshit.

Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure they got a message from Stern. They wanted this series to be less physical, and they set the tone from the get go. They called ticky tack fouls on both teams, and tried to control the physicality.

NO!!!! YOU put one together for ME of clips where Yao is NOT fouling him....
