While almost everyone here is pointing out what a douche bag Ariza was for his behavior after the enormously flagrant foul, and they are right to do so, I was impressed by Farmar's actions immediately after the foul. He was the first person to check on Rudy. It looked like he was going to help Rudy up until he realized that he was really hurt. I've always detested Farmar and anyone else in purple and yellow, but he showed some class tonight.

I think Pau was pissed, and I hope he gives Trevor a vet to young player talk. He could also shiv him in the shower with a sharpened toothbrush.

Exactly. He just wanted to get the spaniard down hard. Turns out little rudy is a bit of a wuss.....err I mean has brittle bones.

Must be a fan of Douche Bag Ariza?

oh fuck off, do you contribute at all to this forum or do you just troll?

Can't help that you peeps drink a lot of hatorade. The reports say Rudy is fine, so why was he writhing on the ground as if he was about to die? Maybe paul pierce could loan him his wheel chair.

Me pointing out that Ed has yet to comment on Ariza after the play is him "posting circles around me". Uh huh. Whatever.

I suppose it could be said that I am also posting circles around you, whoever you are, since in your first sentence of this thread you told me to "shut the f**k up" without addressing a single word I posted.

Sure, G. Let's run with that.

"Pretty much clean"?

What the fuck are you talking about? Please show me where I said it was "pretty much clean" or anything resembling that. I believe it was clearly illegal and clearly a flagrant 2--unnecessary and excessive contact. I don't think it's necessary to think that Ariza was a "liar" for saying that he was trying to make a hard foul on the ball.

After the foul is irrelevant. There's a fair bit of machismo involved in basketball, and the absence of concern on a player's demeanor doesn't matter.

Soccer players squirm around on the ground like they're going to lose a leg on a regular basis. Does it mean that a player intended to take off his leg if he doesn't bend over and see how he is?

It means that when the player immediately starts woofing at the other team after seeing the opposing player down instead of checking on him, intent can be easily derived.

There is one reason why you are posting this, and he knows who he is and is likely happy about it.

Just a butthurt Lakers fan. He's sour because we were up by 30 for most of the second half.

Hell yeah. Guy plays hard and hustles. He does what occasionally needs to be done....send a message.

I wonder if the people here (on both sides) would react if Ruffin threw an elbow at Ariza (or any Laker) next time the teams played.

It seems like we would hear the defense of it being justice or retribution... and I wouldn't really have much of a problem with it. I would IMAGINE a lot of Lakers fans would be up in arms because of more clear intent to damage another player.

It'll be interesting to see... if someone from the Blazers does it I hope it's Ruffin or Randolph. I don't want to waste any of our real players on payback.

marginalizing Rudy's fall by calling him a "wuss" is just classless, hatorade or not. Seeing as all you do here is troll, why don't you just fuck off?

Can we see you run down the court full speed, and have a 6-6 athletic dude hit you across the head while in midair and see how you fare?

Look, this is basketball. Shit like this happens. I watched the reply, and my own personal opinion was that while it was indeed a flagerant 2, Ariza was going for the ball. I'd say I'm a lot more objective than a lot of the fans here, since they hate LA so much, they see conspiracies everywhere.

What does that have to do with your mischaracterization of my point as the foul being "pretty much clean"?

I know you make a lot of shit up in attempts to strengthen your position, but I'm interested to see where you got that from.

And, no, I still am not convinced that, since he did not exhibit apparent concern over Rudy's fall, Ariza therefore must not have been at all concerned about the ball and where it was.

In related news, Lam*r Od*m is a big fat liar.

0:11 Barrett reports that "now Roy is squaring up with Odom" Did Roy walk over to the L*ker bench to talk smack?
1:42 Doesn't seem so. Odom is inside the 3pt line jawing with Roy.

From the AP and espn.com:
A skirmish broke out among the two teams and Ariza was ejected. The Blazers were assessed a pair of technical fouls. In the confusion there were some who said that Odom left the bench, although he denied it. "I stood up, but I stood right there -- I didn't go nowhere," he said.

Yup, that's basically my position.

Hell, Ed is expanding on the premise of at least one of Toko's posts.

The one where I claimed it was "pretty much clean"?

Still waiting on a link for that, man.

Seriously though, what the eff is Ariza doing after that play? He's being restrained from going after someone else! Unreal.

Ed, can you at least concede that, regardless of intent or lack thereof (I agree that it was just a hard foul gone wrong), that Ariza's actions *after* the foul show him to indeed be a classless thug? I think that's all we want you to say.

I misunderstood a part of your post. Now get back to latching on to Toko's posts.

Looking at the reply, it is clear that Roy went after Ariza right after the foul, that might explain why Ariza did not "check up" on rudy. The reply also clearly shows he was going for the ball. That's all, just a tough foul, and the other guy landed badly. That's all.

I kept wondering if Frye was going to be the sacrificial lamb on that one to just barrel into the pile and lay Ariza out. Then I thought that that was probably beyond what Channing could/would do.

Then my wife pipes up: "Joel's wired for fights. He's probably mad at the coach for taking him out before he could be a part of this one"

Though I'd hate to lose Joel for 10 games.

Ariza was still talking shit after he fouled Rudy..he is now on my shit list..LA just can't take an ass whooping like men..fuck la

I can't say that with any degree of certainty, no.

Ariza was flying downcourt full-speed. He did a mid-air mugging of Rudy--who had his momentum stopped by the ground. Ariza landed on his feet and seemed to be making sure that he didn't run into cameramen and spectators.

He didn't exhibit much (or any) concern for Rudy, but I didn't really see him get much of a chance to.

Roy, understandably, ran at Ariza because he was fouled hard by Odom last year and he was sticking up for Rudy. I just haven't seen a shot where Ariza's had much of a chance to do anything other than pivot and hop up and down to break his momentum before he's in the middle of a pushing match.

I really don't like to label players as "classless" or "thugs" because it connotes an emotional understanding that I simply can't get from watching a person play basketball... and CERTAINLY not from a single 5 or 10 seconds in a single game.

That's a you problem, not a me problem.

Look, I understand you're a lawyer-y type person, and really like the proof thing. But this is sports, not crime (well, that foul was borderline). if you can't get a little blood up over that foul, you probably should check your pulse, cause i think you might be dead... or a Sonics fan. Or both.
