Group workout for Shaedon...? Hopefully we get lucky with some good video.

Sochan and Terry are interesting guys to see him match up with.
Sharpe did a "group" workout in Charlotte too. They were all in the gym on the same day, but the extent to which they worked out against each other is unknown.

Regardless, that is a terrific crop of defenders for Shaedon to go against.

Awesome that we were able to bring em all in together.

maybe I'm naive and this is all just deflection and leverage plays, but does it make much sense for the Blazers to be bringing in all these players for workouts, including a bunch of the green room invites, if they were determined to trade the pick?

if taken at surface value, this is just due diligence.

Correct, due diligence. Blazers get a chance to meet the players, get a feel for personalities as well as get a first hand look at their game, coachability, etc... By doing this they have a frame of reference to determine not only if they would draft them, but if they would be interested in trading for them or as a free agent in the future. Getting as many players in as possible is extremely important.

If they weren’t bringing players in for workouts this place would be burnt to the ground lol.

They may be determined to trade the pick, but as Cronin apologists have mentioned multiple times, "it takes two to tango." There's no guarantee that they'll be able to trade the pick for an acceptable return...and even if they do, it will almost definitely be in July. They would be foolish not to ensure that they pick the most acceptable player they hope to not have to keep.

Good group. Butler is intriguing if we had a later pick. If he fell to #36, would absolutely look at him there.
Butler is the skinnier, less-talented version of Chet. I'll pass.

Any of the above names coming in today going to be a starter or 6th man? Dame needs help NOW….not in 3 years FAMS!

hey I don’t disagree I’m just saying you gotta at least bring them in for a workout. Sharpe is really an unknown…I think it’s important to get eyes on him.
Could you imagine if we weren’t bringing in players for workouts?
We would see comments like:
“Are you kidding?? Not even as a smoke screen!!”
“How lazy is sleepy joe!!”

oh oops I thought your comment below your response was to me lol oops

I think we've gotten every guy projected 6-12 in house.

The top 3 + Ivey/Murray/Davis missing.

unless they had a strong development from their last games in college, i don't see anyone we've worked out starting on day 1-- maybe Mathurin, that's it. Keegan Murray is probably the only candidate who definitively fits this criteria, but who knows if he'll drop to us.

Then again, who could anticipate Nico starting 76 of 79 games for us his rookie year? It all depends on their bbiq.

All that said, i don't think whether they start day 1 matters. Jaylen Brown started only 20 games his rookie year, but started and put up 15 ppg every game in year 2. I think someone like Sharpe could be that.

i like the confidence. Terry's physical profile is almost identical to Daniels'. Games are sorta similar too, but Terry probably projects to be a better shooter.

I just like to look at the lesser guys who are working out:
Bouyee 5th year senior PG, project late 2nd round to undrafted.

Butler: more interesting 7'1" freshman (displayed a diverse skillset in 31 games. At his size, Butler operated as a ball-handler, defended multiple positions and shot consistently (39%) from the 3-point line. ) https://www.nba.com/draft/2022/prospects/john-butler Might not last to #36

Hall, combo guard who might not be drafted.

Terry: a big two way combo guard who probably won't fall to #36. https://www.tankathon.com/players/dalen-terry

I think there are a lot of false gauges being used to dismiss any move that Portland might make

gauging a draft pick by if he would be a day 1 starter is one of those false gauges. A lot of great players were not starters as rookies: Klay and Draymond; Giannis and Gobert. Paul Geroge wasn't but Nic Batum was. Kawhi only started half of the games his rookie season. Adebayo didn't regularly start till his 3rd season; same for Jimmy Butler; same for Siakam; same for LaVine. Miles Bridges came off the bench most of his rookie season

if there is a 3-4 year window with Dame the Blazers can tolerate a 1-3 year window with a draft pick

I agree with all of this. Some posters might think Dame's window is closing quicker than Dame probably thinks. But since the topic is about making him happy, then I am guessing he will be fine with the 1-3 year plan that you allude to.
