Sacramento/Seattle Kings Update (1 Viewer)

I kid you not, the Maloofs apparently have gone to the bathrom. Straight out of twitter.

My only question is if they really needed to go, why didn't they stagger their trips. Dudes generally don't go to the bathroom together.

Of course, it's possible they're using the bathroom in an Arthur Fonzarelli sort of way like it's their office or something.

More from twitter: Maloofs are still out of the room. Leading one to believe they were asked to leave while decision is discussed.

Security is moving into position...looks like the meeting may be over.

Sounds like both the Hansen and Ranadive groups have both gone back into the meeting. Guessing that the NBA is giving them both the news at the same time.

Sac media reporting the Kings will stay in Sac

edit: ABC affiliate in Sacramento reporting #Kings will stay.

This is absolute proof that Stern has a fucking hardon for screwing the people of Seattle.

Sucks for Seattle, but I think the owners are setting the right precedent.......finally

How the heck can that ABC affiliate know that? Do they have the meeting bugged or something? No one has left the meeting...guessing some owners might be texting.

From Twitter: Clay Bennett declines comment.

Now there's a surprise. He gets to keep wearing the villain hat awhile longer.

No word yet on whether the Hansen offer, the Ranadive offer or the Hansen backup offer were addressed.

Guessing that part of the puzzle will drag on at least another couple weeks and probably longer.

More from twitter: David Stern press conference to start soon. Maloofs declined comment after meeting saying Stern would handle the news.

One twitter says "Every Owner deferring to Stern" and another says both the sale and relocation were rejected.

Near as I can tell, someone was being sloppy including 'sale' in the rejection. Seattle sports radio says the vote was actually 22-8, definitely not the slamdunk that Stern was looking for, but good enough for his agenda.

PA's rep Peter McLoughlin is sitting front row for the press conference...I'd love to know what he and PA are thinking.

Personally I think David Stern knows how badly he fucked up by letting the Sonics move and although he is too proud (and arrogant ) to admit it, I think he wants to make it difficult for teams to move so easily in the future.

Lol -- Stern leads into the press conference by saying it has to be short because he has a game to get to in OKC. That'll be a slap to Sonics fans.

Stern says he will facilitate a sale between Ranadive and the Maloofs...no word about dealing with the Hansen backup offer.

Nothing concrete for him to offer Seattle at this time. If that's true, it's going to get pretty interesting. If he's saying something different to Hansen, then maybe it won't.

Lol -- Stern promised fair dealing with Seattle down the road. Guessing that it wasn't very well received.

Stern also said the Hansen/Maloof backup deal hadn't been signed -- I'm surprised that's true.

Stern says he gave no favor to Sacramento during the approval process.

Stern is blowing smoke. No WAY does Sacramento present an offer the equivalent of Seattle's. Crazy.

what do you know, Seattle's bid was full of shit! just like their attempts to keep the sonics in seattle.

Sacramento's government fought HARD. Kevin Johnson should have a bronze statue erected in the capitol building.

?? You're laughably off base and likely just trolling.

Stern and Silver did not say this, but it really came down to the new building IMO. They mentioned their "regret' in leaving Seattle the last time, but really what they regretted was the city not bending over and building a new arena.

Sac bent over, thus they get to keep their team.

I get the sarcasm, but it doesn't quite fit, when I'm assuming the backup offer being referred to is just the 20% ownership Hansen's group would buy from the Maloofs, and nothing else, no?

What, you think Seattle's government was behind them the first time around when Clay Bennett and company took them to OKC?

Kevin Johnson worked his ass off to keep them in Sactown.

completely different scenarios. The Sonics had already been sold to someone who was trying to move the team. The Sonics weren't UP for sale, and the city mayor of Seattle wasn't given a chance to find a new ownership group TO buy the team.
