I love Comcast.

Ya know, I'm not defending companies like Comcast, but I think a lot of those complaints are about people buying the 3-6 month discounted rate and then when it goes up to the normal rate they bitch and moan about it. I've wrecked about 5 Comcast TV channel guides and when I take them back (always get them for free) and as I wait for my number to come up, it's all I seem to hear. And it's always the customer wanting something for a discounted price. They have paperwork that clearly states when the price goes up and they just don't want to pay it.

Squeaky wheels get the most grease. The fact is the service is overpriced and people who use their consumer discretion can often get continued discounts. This isn't "Comcast Welfare", seriously, if they spend an hour of their time yapping over the phone at a CSR or in the office, but it nets them $200 in savings over the next 6 months, that's time well spent. If Comcast doesn't want to play ball then they can tell them to take a hike, yet in reality they have a huge department devoted to retaining these specific customers & secret discounts available to give out to them for exactly this reason.

It appears that Frontier (FIOS) TV is trying to get out of the business. Sad. My only option will be Comcast or not watch the Blazers.

That's a very misleading article. Only ~1500 complaints are about telecom companies, and "satellite companies", which aren't even specified, top the list. Reading closely at the actual press release, it looks like there are <150 complaints at any given provider. It's also odd that apparently no cable companies received a single complaint.
The cynic in me notes that this is a KGW article, and connecting the dots, Comcast is attempting to buy NBC, while the current GE ownership of NBC donates heavily to Democrats.

I thought Frontier was JUST getting into the business though?

The Frontier thing was a ruse by Comcast to prove that they weren't a monopoly. Now that Frontier has been paid off, they are raising rates to ridiculous levels, and cable customers will have no choice but to switch to the monopolistic Comcast. Dirty business, but effective.

Yeah and raise installation costs to $500!!! LOL. Before they let Frontier take over FiOS Frontier had to say that they had plans to continue to operate the business. Now less than a year later to announce they want to close up shop (and only do internet) something does seem very fishy.
