I see others are starting to seeing the potential. Get your popcorn.

Morant has never been a top 10 player. Westbrook is the only guy.

Amen Thompson isn't a small guard. He's 6'6 with a 7'0 wingspan. Not saying Scoot can't or won't be top 10, but its hard to be optimistic that he'll reach Dames level. Three small guards have become top 10 players in the past decade and two of them were top 5 three point shooters of all time.

Morant was second team All-NBA 2021-22. He was on pace to get a similar award last year before the gun incident. With Scoot, we are going to be able to build around him correctly and his game should allow for that easier. With Lillard, he was thrown in with a group built around LA. When LA left, we were not in a position to build correctly and got the results one would expect.

I'm hopeful man. But it's hard for small guards to get to that absolutely elite level and Scoot has a ton to live up to. I've seen numerous rebuilds result in the same position that we've been in for a while.

Prediction: Scoot will start his rookie season better at finishing around the rim than Dame in his rookie season

The question is whether or not he will improve his overall game as much as Dame did.

I don’t think scoot will ever be the shooter that Dame is.

I'm not entirely sold that Scoot is a small guard. He's 6'2, which is about average NBA point guard height. But 6'9 wingspan and great physique.

Anyway, in the near term it's going to be the Ant/Scoot/Shae trio. With Dame on his way out our incentive now is to build Ant's trade value (and lose games).

We may put up a lot of 120 point games (while our opponent puts up 135).

Scoot at 19 seems to have a better handle and passing than Dame did at 24. Not that Dame was bad, just that Scoot is already special.

But yeah, I think Scoot just needs to reach average accuracy on threes. You don't have to shoot from the logo to be an elite PG.

I am looking forward to a different style of play. While we lost most our games with the big guns out, it was a more enjoyable team to watch; more movement & passing.

I think that level of energy and inclusion can feed into defensive energy as well.

I don’t expect a good team to start but hope we have visions of greatness by the end.

Both of these guys are members here. Can we not roll out the personal attacks?

Okay i think my honeymoon with you is over.
No need for this unless you actually know these guys and are on good terms? Many of us here support these guys big time. Like their content and personality or not, at least they are doing something.

Man you came out of the gate on fire!!! And then ran into a hurricane….smolder out now please…

So whats these guys nickname? I predect by game three everyone will think they need a nickname.

The S.S. Dunk Machine?

ScootNSharpe?

SharpScooter?

Okay these all suck. Help me out here someone!

S.S. Destroyer?

"S.S. Destroyer" sounds like the "third reich" division

Might be the most athletic backcourt ever. The dunk brothers. Add in Ant's skills backing up either one and there's a lot to be excited about. Next up, the frontcourt..

I have high hopes something good will come out of the Kris Rayan Jabari collection. The future is blinding!

What? I was saying it’s not okay to insult them.

I too thought about the Warriors trade with Monta, I remember at Chris Mullins retirement ceremony the fans boo'd the shit out of the owner (and maybe GM?) and Rick Barry went all Rick Barry on them.

NOT saying that Scoot is the next Curry, but no one knew Curry was going to be Steph Curry when they traded Monta. He was averaging 14 points a game, and was dealing with a wonky ankle. And iirc, Monta was traded due to Klay being drafted and the team having a lot of confidence in Klays future.

Again, not saying the end result will be duplicated here, and I know that the scenarios aren't the same as Dame isn't in his 7th year like Monta was, but it could be similar in that going forward it's a better FIT for the team as a whole.

Although there are still questions about Scoots game, and there should be. He's 19. The BASE that he's starting from is pretty damn good.

It remains to be seen how well Damian would fit in in Miami's team (or other teams). People thought KD, Kyrie and Harden were a sure thing too.

Also have to keep in mind that Damian did have that troubling calf strain issue a couple times last year. That *could* continue to be an issue going forward, especially with his age and usage.

This could be a weird blessing in disguise for the Blazers (but I doubt it will be).

All that said, I do wish there had been an avenue that the Blazers could've gone down that meant they kept Damian, but wouldn't have cost them an arm and a leg or would've been marginally better for the team at the expense of anything past 3 years from now.

Mortgaging the future for an attempt at being a top 5-7 team where everything has to fall into place PERFECTLY for them to even be mentioned as a team getting HCA, might not be worth it.

On the plus side, Damian will probably get the start at the all star game. yay...

How do we know you weren't operating on opposite day logic? We will never know unless you come clean and even then you could still be operating on opposite day logic, so whatever.

Glad to hear you say trio and not duo. People were saying Ant needs his own team to show he’s a legit lead guard, and are already willing to put him on the bench for a rookie.

Ant has absolutely no reason to defer to Scoot at the moment. He’s the lead guard for the time being.

I hope Ant balls out. If he’s anywhere close to 25/3/6 on solid efficiency by the deadline, we’re talking about getting back a package of 2 1sts for Ant, or a 1st and an actual enticing young player, as opposed what he might command right now.

Alsoo worth mentioning…

Because next year’s draft is weaker, teams in the lotto looking a PG might gladly give up their pick for Ant with two more years left on his deal after this one.

Or Maxie. Just sayin

Triple S

If Simons is going to be here long term, I want him part of it too.
I don't like leaving key guys out.
