Scoot and Sharpe in the backcourt?

It's now being reported that Miller has lost 13 pounds while suffering through Mono. He will be very weak and winded if/when he works out. Obviously he will not be able to impress. Of course he will heal and regain his strength and conditioning, no doubt, but how much will it way on Charlotte management decision making if Scoot goes in completely healthy and kills it?

Miller's legal issue and Mono might make him the Michael Porter of this draft. Dropping well below his ceiling/floor. For Portland though, there will be a lot more risk on busting out at #3 than Denver had at #14

That's why Amen's got a small chance to get in there at 3.

Charlotte is taking Scoot, or they are trading the pick to somebody who will. I think that's almost a forgone conclusion at this point.

I haven't seen anything reported to indicate that, but if you are speculating, I agree with you. Scoot just seems a more sure fire prospect. But I still love Millers game. He can shoot, and he gets the shot off quickly. He is long and a defender too. Awesome consolation prize if you will.

True, totally possible. But Porter has a bad back. I'm sure at some point it will end his career like Birds did. From all accounts, Miller does not appear to be in legal jeopardy and following his representations advice to keep his mouth shut. I think he will be sued civilly, but yes, this could scare a lot of teams away.

Yeah, just my speculation from everything I've seen and heard about both. Scoot has too much upside and so much less baggage.

My thinking is Scoot goes #2. If that happens Miller would be a nice addition. Again don't trade the pick or player.
If by chance Scoot happens to be available at #3 you take him as well. Again don't trade the pick or player.

Either way you take the player and continue to build a quality team. Lillard is under contract. If he wants out then let him make that choice and do the best you can to send him to a team that would be a good place for him and that can give us great value. If Lillard wants to win here the best way to do that is to continue to make smart moves and build a better team.
Timeline be damned. Lillard will be just fine hoisting a trophy when he is 35-36.

And it would probably mean more to him. Shows he survived the first real rebuild, if it actually happens. Previous management did not try to rebuild. They just tried polishing turds, hoping to get a diamond out of it.

Don't forget Thybulle. It's important to play guards in the SF slot. Get that ball moving, pick up the pace. So what if the other team gets dunks and layups and controls the rebounding. Blazers need that uptempo offense so it looks like Billups knows how to coach basketball.

Didn't Miller have mono more than a month ago?

He should be close to full-go by now.

I don't think mono is nearly as bad as supposedly having most teams red flag your medicals

I think it is increasingly likely that Scoot is #2. I feel like CHA can't take another chance in addition to bringing back Bridges.

Seems like they'd need Presidential-candidate level PR if they brought both those players in.

Didn't they release him?

Pretty sure I saw it announced Bridges year away counted as his penalty (suspension) also.

That's partly why I want Amen. Can you imagine Amen and Shae fast breaks, with Dame's ability to just trail until he gets to 35 ft of the basket?

I imagine that as well. But I also imagine it with Ant so I am a little reluctant to move Ant for an aging DDR if we go the Amen route.
Maybe we can get a vet with the MLE instead? Or roll the dice with Grant at SF and Watford at PF while bringing Amen off the bench as a SF?

unfortunately the Hornets will take Scoot at 2. I would be stunned if they don't
My brother is a big Hornets fan and think they will take Miller lol. So who really knows. I do hope they do take Miller and Scoot falls to us, would fit in nicely in Portland.

Bulls Should Make ‘Phone Call’ to Blazers for No. 3 Pick, Says Analyst

The Portland Trail Blazers and Chicago Bulls could be ideal trade partners in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Ridiculously, in the same opinion piece, the writer suggests that Derozan and Patrick Williams are only worth the 11 + filler from Orlando...not even the 6. Yet somehow Derozan is worth the 3 from us? Absolutely insane.

Scoot will be a young rook and will be lucky to get 15 minutes a night, off the bench.
Not many young guards come in and have big time impact 1st year at 19.

He would on most teams in the league where he wasn't having to backup Dame. I do not see why we wouldn't take the trade value on this guy and try to make a legit run with Dame. Obviously another big move or two and subsequent moves will be necessary but if you're going to draft and keep Scoot just tell Dame it's time to move on.
