I will admit Jrue back to the Bucks makes sense but do they have anything to give -- large contract to even make it work ?

I think you would have to get a 3rd team involved and someone correct me only a handful of team's have cap space to maybe help this deal happen.

Great idea! So we can have a Dame/Jrue duo both around 40 years old trying to guard SGA/Harper/Edwards/Luka for 48mpg in the playoffs.

Or we could just keep Scoot - then let Dame/Jrue/etc fit in as backup piece if that ever were to even make sense?
If Scoot still looks like ass this year, do you really care if we trade him? That’s why I said we would see what happens with Scoot this year. Point guards are a dime a dozen.

Yes, Dame truly wanted to bring a championship here. Name the last Blazer star player who moved his family here? Invested in the community? 100% he wanted to win here.

And what do the Blazers do?

After the shut him down so they could get a better draft pick...

They drafted his replacement.

Scoot wasn't a player ready to contribute.

We've seen Dame literally drag shit rosters to the playoffs.

The one position the Blazers didn't need to improve and that's where the Blazers went.

I don't blame him for asking out. And I don't blame him for wanting a specific team.
I have no issue with Dame wanting out. Was 100% reasonable for him to request a trade. I'd be fine if he said his preferred destination. CJ, Hart, and Norm gave us theirs and ended up where they wanted.

I have an issue with the scorched earth crap he and his reps did as well as the one team bullshit. It was designed to let the Heat steal him for a shit return.

Glad Joe somehow got a great deal but he, the Blazers, and us were very lucky how it worked out. Ultimately it was a big lose lose for Dame. He didn't get where he wanted and he tarnished his legacy.

But he didn't scorch the earth.

Dame always praised Earl Watson and Ronnie Price as his end of the bench vets his rookie years and how important those guys were even though they barely played. Well it might be dames future to be the next Earl Watson to Scoot

But he didn't scorch the earth.
Dame's representatives violated NBA rules by directly putting pressure in the media for the Blazers to trade him. Dame was under contract - it was a violation for him through his reps to publicly demand a trade. His reps said he would hold out to any team that traded for him outside of the Heat.

The NBA had to step in and have a meeting with all parties.

Not sure how some of the Dame apologist just glance over this. When in Blazers history have we had a player go to these lengths to demand to get off the team?

Can make a good case it was the most disrespectful exit of any Blazer from the franchise.

You mean besides Bill Walton?

Or Drexler?

What about Roy unretiring?

Dame is only just about to turn 35. I don’t think he’s ready to be the cagey old vet off the bench.

Well we won’t know for at least 48 hours, but this one could take a while to find out what happens.

Highly unlikely he doesn’t clear waivers given his injury situation for next season.

Could be his best fit to play the GTjr role though. There’s still no telling how the injury is going to impact his career.

I'm a big Dame fan, but this is not the time to even consider this. Not going to get into any pissing match with posters who have bile toward Dame and are spewing it

let the new owner decide if there's any reason to consider Dame at a minimum salary. I doubt Dame would have interest in that. I would not be surprised if he actually rehabs sooner than normal, but it's kind of hard for me to see him even being ready by the 10-day contract window next season

You think those are comparable?

Drexler played half that season for the Blazers and was playing for the team days before the trade.

Walton believes the medical staff was incompetent and screwed up his injuries. He could hardly walk correctly the rest of his life and was a shell of the player from when he joined the Blazers.

It is a great situation for him. Going to be a very interesting storyline to watch. I’m sure most every team is probably gauging interest. No way he doesn’t clear waivers given injury status, right?

How could people be mad if he chose to be here when he could choose to be anywhere… The Lakers might even be a possibility.

Portland’s gotta be on that list of possible destinations just because of the history, but I’m not sure we would be at the top of his list. I don’t think Miami would be where it was either.

I thought Dame wanted to go to Miami because of the nightlife since he was getting a divorce. I would rehab there before choosing a team.

NBA stars are super delusional about how good they still are as the age.

I think it will take a team to give Dame a try and then he fails to be as effective as he used to be.

Better that is another team without all the drama of him in Portland.

i dunno why miami is a better basketball situation than portland, tbh

Regardless of who he decides to sign with, he's going to rehab at home in Portland.
