You think those are comparable?

Drexler played half that season for the Blazers and was playing for the team days before the trade.

Walton believes the medical staff was incompetent and screwed up his injuries. He could hardly walk correctly the rest of his life and was a shell of the player from when he joined the Blazers.

And Dame still lives here, still investing in the community, still cares.

How did Dame's demand to go to the Heat hurt the Blazers?

It didn't.

You can villify him all you want, but he didn't hurt this franchise.

Dame's representatives violated NBA rules by directly putting pressure in the media for the Blazers to trade him. Dame was under contract - it was a violation for him through his reps to publicly demand a trade. His reps said he would hold out to any team that traded for him outside of the Heat.

The NBA had to step in and have a meeting with all parties.

Not sure how some of the Dame apologist just glance over this. When in Blazers history have we had a player go to these lengths to demand to get off the team?

Can make a good case it was the most disrespectful exit of any Blazer from the franchise.
I think the FO have a pretty good idea of Dame's feelings toward the organization. For anyone to blindly say bring him back is foolish and I doubt Dame's ego will allow him to show interest in coming back. It would look pretty weak and desperate to reach out this soon.

I’m SO glad that we get to rehash all these old arguments from two years ago. Yay!

Except we now have more data. Seeing what the Blazers front office has done this offseason, the Dame trade to Milwaukee looks even more exceptional. So the knock that Dame's demands hurt the franchise are not accurate.

Are people saying that he hurt the franchise or are they saying that he hurt his reputation with the fans?

Are they though? Stable?

Who do you consider more stable? Look at the top teams over the same time frame. Lakers? Coaching drama. Milwaukee coaching drama, Knicks coaching drama, Nuggets coaching drama, T-wolves, weird ownership drama, Suns, lol.

OKC and Pacers you could make an argument for now, but at the time Lillard asked to be traded, Miami was the most stable and playoff-ready.

The musical chairs is crazy!

trade Dame for Jrue. Trade Jrue for Brogdon.
Trade Ant for Jrue.
Now possibly sign Dame to be with Jrue?

If that happens, craziest circle I've seen go around in quite some time!
So out of all the players involved in the initial trade:

Dame - Cut
Ayton - Cut
Nurk - Traded twice
Little - Cut
Keon - Cut
Allen - Still with Suns (and extended)
Holiday - Back with Portland (and extended with Celts)
Camara - Best of the bunch...

If he accepts a back-up / mentor role at a discount to end his career at home, I would gladly support signing Dame

It is a great situation for him. Going to be a very interesting storyline to watch. I’m sure most every team is probably gauging interest. No way he doesn’t clear waivers given injury status, right?

How could people be mad if he chose to be here when he could choose to be anywhere… The Lakers might even be a possibility.

Portland’s gotta be on that list of possible destinations just because of the history, but I’m not sure we would be at the top of his list. I don’t think Miami would be where it was either.

If Dame went to the Fakers I would stop watching the NBA for good.

As of today the two best players in the original trade are Camara and Jrue and both are on PDX. We win.

Until we see proof of Dames play after the Achilles rehab I don’t think you can say he’s still better than Jrue today.

Many believe he was never better than Jrue - if the goal is to contend for a title.

I think it'd be fun to have Lillard back here. We could roll with a backcourt on the verge of AARP

I'd love to see Dame accept an assistant coach position for next season. Any discussion about rejoining the team as a player can be revisited a year from now.

Now here is a question to ponder. What if Dame would resign but his demand was to fire Joe because he doesn't want to be back if he is still here.

Who would the fanbase that applauds all decisions we make side with?

As long as Dame makes me the GM...
