We do not owe him shit ??

In terms of team building I get it but to say the team does not OWE him is BS -- he is one of the top 3 players to EVER suite up and the total lack of respect he gets pisses me off and if that is how you feel -- your not a Blazers fan and this is a hill i will die on.
While I disagree because we don’t actually owe him anything. We gave him all the opportunities. We drafted him, we paid him, we listened to him and traded him when he wanted out. The Portland Trail Blazers were very good to Dame… We don’t really owe him anything.

That being said, I fully agree on the second part. I understood the LMA situation and why so many people were like “forget this guy”, but I don’t understand that with Dame. Emotions running high I guess.

Haynes reporting that Lillard found out from twitter just like the rest of us. Ouch.

Sign Lillard to the vet minimum for one year. Give him access to the PF and staff to rehab.
What do the Blazers get when he is injured for the year? He takes up a roster spot and has a cap hit.

As though he can't afford a doctor or a gym. Guy has made about half a billion he can build his own gym anywhere in the world.

Blazers can give him an assistant coach role or ambassador role or such if he wants that (which I doubt he would right now).

Dude demanded out to ONE team after a decade of thumping his chest about loyalty. Went on and on about how he wasn't going to be a super team chaser. In the end he might have been the worst of all of them.

Well, I guess you could sign him and see what happens with Scoot this year and how Dame recovers. If Dame still looks like Dame, you trade Scoot.

Signing Dame would not be wise. I get the sentiment but to win its a bad bad move. An ancient backcourt? Jrue is not exactly a war horse; Dame will never close to the same.

It is kind of ironic that all of the reasons he stated he would never ring chase (grass isn't greener, failing at it, looking like a gravy trainer and potential injuries) happened to him 100%.

LMA never talked about loyalty and how he was better than other NBA stars who jump to super teams. Dame did that for over a decade.

Claimed he would be quiet if it ever came to parting ways with the Blazers. Then he behaved so unprofessional the NBA had to have a meeting with all parties and setup strict guidelines of what Dame and his reps could do.

im as big a Dame fan as it gets but boy he sure tarnished his name a bit with all of that nonsense.

I am not going to get into the whole Dame thing again cause that will end badly for all ( including for myself maybe ending with me banned ) so i will agree to disagree on this and move on from this topic -- this is for the best cause last time i went down this rabbit hole it got ugly.

Time to trade Jrue to Mil and fleece them again.

The musical chairs is crazy!

trade Dame for Jrue. Trade Jrue for Brogdon.
Trade Ant for Jrue.
Now possibly sign Dame to be with Jrue?

If that happens, craziest circle I've seen go around in quite some time!

Great idea! So we can have a Dame/Jrue duo both around 40 years old trying to guard SGA/Harper/Edwards/Luka for 48mpg in the playoffs.

Or we could just keep Scoot - then let Dame/Jrue/etc fit in as backup piece if that ever were to even make sense?

Dame could be an all star and i wouldn't trade scoot.

Dude did you watch Kobe? He was one of the worst players in the NBA after his injury.

we don’t need slashing dame. I’ll take shooter Dame all day in a reduced role.

he’s going to retire a Blazer. Whether it’s now or later.

I was more or less referring to the time frame in recovery.

Yes, Dame truly wanted to bring a championship here. Name the last Blazer star player who moved his family here? Invested in the community? 100% he wanted to win here.

And what do the Blazers do?

After the shut him down so they could get a better draft pick...

They drafted his replacement.

Scoot wasn't a player ready to contribute.

We've seen Dame literally drag shit rosters to the playoffs.

The one position the Blazers didn't need to improve and that's where the Blazers went.

I don't blame him for asking out. And I don't blame him for wanting a specific team.

I think a lot of people (myself included) forget that he returned and then got another injury which kept him out of the bulk of the 2013-14 season.

At that point, he was already going into his 19th season when he returned. And that's just regular season age, he had played in the equivalent of almost 4 years of NBA ball with the post-season games counted in.

I wonder how much of Kobe's decline was due to father time more than the Achilles, tho the Achilles definitely sped up his demise.

I think it's unlikely that Dame is going to come back from this and be what he used to be. He'll probably a backup going forward, or will have a much more limited role on his next team.

Unlike Tatum and Tyreese, Damian has a lot of miles on his body.

Still, if he's willing to sign a 2 year contract with the team, I wouldn't say no. Just doubt he will sign with anyone (tho he'd be stupid not to, I think the team he'd sign with would grant him access to their training staff, etc).

Dark horse, Phoenix. They seem to have the fountain of youth there (cept for Nurk, he couldn't be salvaged).
