Simmons Bonanza

Rumor was Philly asking for CJ and 3 picks, wonder if there's a way to add picks through other moves to make that happen, and if it's ultimately worth it?

Nurk to Charlotte for Plumlee and a pick, Covington to Chicago for our pick back? Then those 2 picks and our 2024 with CJ for Ben?

Irony that they traded Plums for Nurk (in essence) and then potentially trading Nurk for Plums.

So CJ, Cov, Nurk + 1st for Ben. What is even left at that point? Dame/Powell/Little/Simmons/Nance/Ant? Then a bunch of minimums. And then we need to sign two more minimum guys. We are like a less talented version of the Lakers.
So keep Nurk. Trade Roco for our first back, then do two picks, Ant or Nas and CJ

I think it's looking to take a small step back this season to improve next season. If Nurk and Covington are likely walking anyways in free agency.
Covington to Chicago for White, Brown, and the pick. White and Brown likely don't offer much, but still 2 younger guys to take a look at. Nurk for Plumlee and a pick. Plumlee gives us an expiring contract to try to move in the offseason to add someone around Dame and Simmons.

Well first off, I don't think the market for RoCo is a 1st. It's likely 2 seconds or a second and some meh prospect.

But honestly I'm fine with jettisoning CJ/Nurk/RoCo for Simmons. I'd fight tooth and nail to keep our 2024 1st but even then it may be worth it. I'd like to take some salary back though so the team has some contracts for use in future trades. I guess you could route Plumlee here. It's crazy to think that before Simmons passed instead of dunked 6 months ago we had no shot at Simmons, even with that package.

Not sure how the Lakers could trade for him (if the 76ers take Westbrook, the whole "young talent" thing was a lie). But honestly, Simmons on the Lakers would be good for them.

So let's hope it never happens.
Why would Morey want to trade for Westbrook? Be there. Done that.

We’d have Plumlee back.

Nurk for a 1 and a bench player
RoCo/Ant/1 for Grant
CJ/2 pick swaps/2 1s for Simmons

Dame/Smith Jr
Powell/McLemore
Nas/Nance
Grant/GB3
Simmons/Zeller

Plus whatever bench piece in the Nurk trade.

We would be more balanced but the shooting would suffer with CJ/Ant both gone.

horrible trade.

RoCo/Ant/1 for Grant

See above.

only decent thing you said in this post.

You don't trade a starter PLUS a 1st round pick for a bench player. Especially when said starter is in a contract year. In addition to that, trading RoCo + Simons + A pick for Grant is a colossal backfire. Especially since Grant is the epitome of a good player on a shitty team (and he just injured himself and is out for at least 6 weeks).

It's Nurk FOR a 1st and a bench player. Also contract year status is usually bad for starters, since they want to get paid more. But regardless, it's a starter on a team that is 11th in the worse conference. That's not super impressive.

I think you're going to to be disappointed with the actual return on our guys.

read that part too quick. But the rest of what I said stands. Grant is so overrated. The minute he became a main player on a team, his shooting % dropped like a rock.

I wouldn't want to trade a 22 year old, who per 36 minutes is averaging not significantly less ppg than Grant is, and actually has better O and D rtgs, and is a significantly better shooter.

I'm decidedly less in on Grant then I was in the off-season, despite the obvious. At the time, the idea was replace CJ's inefficient volume scoring with Grant's inefficient volume scoring. Neither is great, but Grant is a much better fit on defense, and a secondary creator is required. With Ant's emergence and Powells play finishing, I'm not sure we need the offense anymore. But keep in mind Ant is on the last year of his rookie deal. If he keeps playing well I can see his ceiling being what GTJ got last year, at which point you're just paying him the same amount as Grant.

Simmons would be a horrible fit with Zion.

Sabonis doesn’t really fit with another post player that needs the ball

CJ really is the best fit and it’s so funny that Morey can’t accept it

Not sure what you’re talking about, we would RECEIVE the First round pick in that Nurk trade as I stated in my post. Thanks for the feedback though.

Hold on, the Pelicans are talking about trading for Ben, but didn't include Ingram in their talks? They'd have to include him in any trade, as they really don't have anyone else (they aren't trading Zion).

Just picks won't do it, since they're over the cap anyways.

I'd trade Zion for Simmons. Of course Zion is a beast when healthy, but I'll be fucking amazed if he's ever healthy. (Or under 300lbs.)
Plus there might actually be some fan base for Simmons in Louisiana. LSU is probably more popular than the Pelicans.

Pelicans are loaded with picks the next three years. They can reroute them to multiple teams. The basketball fit with Zion makes no sense, but I’m guessing this could be one way to do it.

So much for all that momentum huh Woj lolol

my guess is Morey hasn’t gotten offered a better player/fit than McCollum and it’s driving him mad.
