So what's next for the roster (1 Viewer)

I think the baseball playing Irishman is going to be a scorer as well as the Spaniard. Pat C and D Diez are both exceptional 3pt shooters. We need an elite defensive coordinator. Spend where it counts Paul!

My entire point is not that's he's going to bust and be out of the NBA in 4 years

I just don't see how he'll ever reach the level of an all-star PF. The Bosh and Aldridge comparisons are insane to me.
I HOPE he isn't going to be another Aldridge! It took forever to get that bum off our team! The scouting report you posted said:

"Don’t think he’ll be a star. It’s not his personality. He’s a starter but has to be your third- or fourth-best player."

PERFECT! You don't want your PF to be a star, you WANT them to be your third- or fourth-best player.

Is Diez coming over? My guess is he will be the player used if we can get someone to trade us talent for cap space.

We don't know but why not with this roster..the guy is famous for lights out shooting. Rasta says he's a lousy defender but a lot of great shooters are.

Diez is a decent three point shooter. I wouldn't call him elite. What I would say is interesting about him is that he has significantly improved whatever the competition. I think he will make a good bench player and contribute eventually.

I think players you want to bring be young bucks. I don't think we want to go the vet route right now. But hey, if we make the playoffs with our youth, we make a big push next summer to bring those vets.

I know I'm going full mags, but I think we can make the playoffs with our young bucks. Maybe add a couple more young bucks after the rookie contract is about as vet as I want to get

Everything I've read said they're way above decent from deep. Pitchers usually have really good control. Mark Price, Steve Kerr, Jeff Hornacek, Jamal Crawford, on and on...great shooters who can't defend. Stotts can park them in a corner or bring them in when you need 3pts..good role players to have

Connaughton will be at worst(best?) a pest on defense.

One thing I hope about our team is that they are really DIRTY. I hope they flat out hustle and throw elbows and really hurt people. (I. E . The Spurs) Would be great for fan moral.

I think we actually need a couple vets just to help keep an even keel. I'm happy Kaman is still (ATM) with the team, but I think we need a guard/wing vet to help with that part of the roster. Someone mentioned 'Dre in one of these threads - I'd be up for bringing him back for 1-2 years.
You need a couple older vets to help mentor the young guys. They don't need a lot of minutes to be beneficial - their tutelage is their greatest asset.

Interesting listening to the Laker honks today. They were trying to figure out if there were 3 or more teams in the NBA that they could be better than. They went through all the rosters of the teams that sucked last year and who improved. I could not help but apply their situation to ours. We are looking at bottom 7. It's not that we don't have talent, it's that we have no depth and really don't want any.

So what happens when our young roster starts to get injuries..........things will go from bad to worse in a hurry. Mags we are not making the playoffs unless we add a big time scorer to this roster.

Actually it really is. I mean if Leonard could come around, maybe our staff has the ability to teach him the game too? :dunno:
Maybe, if we hadn't just fired the big man coach who was instrumental in developing Leonard.

Kareem is a decent big man and coach.

Looking at Portland's roster and I see...... the Charlotte Hornets

Bunch of young athletic bigs with little polish
Forwards that hustle and play D, can't shoot
Gerald Henderson
A scoring PG that's the best player on the team

We're in agreement that at best this team wins like 33 games next year, right? That's with no injuries.

It needs to happen though. Need the shot at drafting another star player in the draft. It's the fastest and easiest way to get the cornerstones in place to compete for a championship.

We fired Kaman?!? I didn't know you could do that.
Sell Hughes' contributions shirt all you want, but as much as Leonard said Kaman was like a big brother to him, he said Hughes was like a second father.

I think we're going to come to regret letting him go.

... as much as Leonard said Kama was like a big brother to him, he said Hughes was like a second father.
So, unemployed, gambling away Meyers' mom's paycheck, swilling cheap beer 24/7 and whipping Meyers with a belt for not picking up a pack of smokes for him on his way home from school?

Nah, I'd be afraid of our bigs developing that praying-mantis-jumpshot of his. ;)
He's actually one of the best persons to ever play the game. He did have some kind of elbow sharpener when he played, though.

He was AWESOME in college and with the Knicks before he broke his wheels. Still really good limping around on the court.

He was head coach of the Bulls, and several more years an assistant.

Old school.

Andre Miller and Kaman...that'll do
