We should merge this thread with the Greg Monroe thread. It is basically the same. I'll check those dudes you listed out when I get a chance.

I've watched Pittman a couple of times, the guy is pretty good. Epke Udoh is also a forward-center that I really like, but he's starting to climb up into the late lottery range of the draft.

i made this list because: we need a center....and due to my schedule i rarely get to see the games anymore...

Aldrich >>> all on that list. This guy is a beast.

My second favorite big in college is Larry Sanders. He's 6'10" with a 7'7" wingspan. A shotblocking machine!

I'll check him out. I think you are missing a point though. We are looking for a physical player to play with Aldridge, not replace him. We are looking for our "Brian Grant" that went with Rasheed Wallace.

Cole Aldrich, Cousins or Monroe would be fantastic to me.

Sanders looks good too.

I don't know, but Sanders sounds like he'd fit in nicely next to the uber-soft LMA:

Post player with tremendous defensive upside due to his unbelievable length: has a 7-foot-7 wingspan (His arms need their own insurance policy) plus good timing and explosiveness ... Already a bigtime shot blocker and is on his way to becoming an absolutely dominant one. As a freshman he averages just 16 minutes per game but is already tied for 10th in the country in blocked shots at 3.0 per game. His block per minute average is the best in the country ... Very fluid and fast running the floor. Shows a solid motor, hustling the floor and fighting for rebounds ... Has excellent foot speed and lateral quickness for a bigman ... His offensive game, while raw shows potential to develop ... Has a huge frame and should be able to put on plenty of weight without affecting his mobility ... Shows a solid shooting form with a high release. Just needs time to polish it

Pittman is a beast. With the experience that he'll surely receive this season, and with our luck with Longhorns, this may be a very good fit. Texas' offensive pace is one of the highest in the country. I wonder if that makes him less of a fit?

FSU hasn't produced a decent big man since, since, Cowens, so I don't think I'd be very high on him. I admit I haven't paid attention to him though.

Parakhouski is tearing it up in the Big South. I can't realistically get excited about that.

I love Aldrich. He's going to be out of gettability range, unless we move a huge piece, such as Aldridge, and we won't do that.

I'm down with Cousins, but again, I don't think he's going to be around in our neck of the woods when we select and I doubt we'd give up an important piece to get him, considering his age.

I think he was saying that Cole Aldrich is the best player on your list, not that Lamarcus Aldridge is better than everyone on your list.

Elias Harris would be a perfect fit. Watch his draft status go up as the tourney nears.

Aldrich and Cousins aren't going to be in our range.

Pittman is skilled, but a tub of goo.

I really like Patrick Patterson above any of the other 4/5's that are out there.

Harris is really intriguing, kind of a hard to tell where he'd fit in with our team though. Pittman is still definitely a work in progress and it's slightly encouraging though that he's dropped as much weight as he has. Patterson is probably going to be really good, but I don't think he's going to be in our draft range (unless the team really stumbles down the stretch).

A guy I like is Ekpe Udoh, projected at #14 by Draft Express so the Blazers might be able to trade up to get him. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ekpe-Udoh-1220/.

He's listed more as a PF/C which I think would be better for us as Oden and Przsbilla might be back, and even if they aren't he can complement Aldrige pretty well because of his toughness and inside play. Here's some quotes from that article:

"With his outstanding length, good size and solid athleticism, Udoh has all the tools necessary to be a very valuable contributor on the NBA level as both a defender and rebounder. So far this season he’s putting them to good use, averaging 9.3 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. His timing appears to be solid, and he does a terrific job using his long wingspan to contest shots. Comparing his last season at Michigan with what he’s done so far at Baylor, on a per-minute basis, Udoh has more than doubled his scoring rate, improved his field goal percentage from 44% to 62%, upped his rebounding, assists and free throw attempts considerably, maintained his shot-blocking production, and reduced his fouls dramatically.

Its possible that we've yet to see the best of him just yet as well, as most players tend to take some time to shake off the rust after sitting out an entire season the way Udoh was forced to last year. "

I think you are misunderstanding. He was inferring that Sanders is a lengthy player like Aldridge, when we need someone with some width.

And for whatever reason, I can't stand Aldrich. I think it is how slow he is and the way he moves.. You just don't see players who move awkwardly like he does do that well.

I disagree we need to replace Aldridge with a F/C who can bang, defend and collect rebounds. Aldridge's contract was a mistake IMO. We need to get Roy a partner who has some intensity. You can't count on Oden (due to health), but he has show plenty of flashes this year that he could be that interior presence we need at the C. I think Cunningham and Pendergraph are keepers but we need a high end guy who can play F and the Pivot. I would prefer a back to the basket defender to be in there when Oden is injured or out with foul trouble. The back court and SF positiosn are set.

PG Bayless/whoever
SG Roy/Rudy
SF Batum/Webster
PF Pendergraph/Cunningham/TO if he returns
C Oden/?

We need a high end PF/C who can be backed up by Pendergraph and Cunningham. Not ready to give up on Oden. I'm ready to give up on Aldridge he simply doesn't have the warrior mentality which Oden/Roy/Bayless/Rudy have in spades.

Just my opinion no links, nadda. FWIW.

"THE" most intriguing Center prospect in all of College is Hassan Whiteside.

Ok so I watched Greg Monroe last night, and he is very interesting. He has some very unique skills for a center.

1. He can put the ball on the floor. Like from out near the 3 point line to face up and drive all the way into the key.
2. He can pass. He created several times using #1, above.
3. He can play D. He was very good at sealing the lane for Georgetown.
4. Fairly efficient.

Problems:

1. Sometims it seemed he got caught "watching" the play happen.
2. Questionable motor, sometimes looked bored out there.
3. Sometimes passed up good opportunities to pass.

#1 and #2 Problems are the primary reasons he went from being a Top 3 projected pick his Freshman year to a late-lotto projection now. And there hasn't been much improvement.

Elias Harris flat-out beasted last night. He's got the athleticism of a guy like Marion, only a better jumpshot. I don't care if he measures out at 6'6" (which he probably won't) at the draft camps, he will be hard to guard in the NBA. He seems almost like he plays on pogo sticks. Any team that gets him is going to get a steal. Might turn out to be the best pro from Gonzaga since Stockton.

That said, I've heard a lot of people in the know say that Elias is in no rush to go pro.

Watched the game. I love this kid. Sick all-around game.

Once considered the top Center in his class he has turned into an absolute head case on the level of Bonzi Wells. If he can ever get his head out of his ass he'll be a beast.
