My wife has been out in the Toyota Highlander and it is fantastic. Just as dependable as her old 4-Runner!
I’ve had my German tank out and it has VERY little clearance, but just doesn’t stop! Charging everywhere, even in the deep stuff here around the house!!! #QuattroLifeFAMS

Still no power. Generator went down last night. Cant get it started. Poser not predicted to be on until at least tomorrow.
Gonna see if i cant get out to a store that is open who has a generator in stock i can go pick up. Exhaling frost right now in the house.

Probably gonna have to treck down to home depot in salem or something. dont think we can go another night without heat.

My mother-in-law's neighborhood in Wilsonville is without power and PGE's website is showing Monday morning as the estimated time to get it back on. Roads between here and there are a mess, with 99E closed entirely. She has a gas fireplace, but that's it as far as heat goes, and no way to cook anything. Maybe we could get her an Uber to a hotel in the area that has heat. What a mess. I'll take snow any day of the week compared to frickin' ice.
Yep, our ‘hood is a mess. Large tree branches down everywhere. Several streets are at least partially blocked. We had such a nice tree lined street prior to this but it’s gonna take a long time, if ever before it recovers. But at least we have a gas H2O heater, gas fireplace and gas stove. It may be dark but we’re warm, clean and fed......it’s interesting to wander the hood and see all the garage doors (manually) open, with people running their vehicles just so they can recharge all their electronic devices. We’ve gone from the 21st century to the 19th century in one storm. Good thing books don’t need a recharge.....

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law has an electric range so cooking is not happening right now. Her neighbors have been nice enough to bring her a dinner and hot water in a thermos. How are the roads looking over there?

I got a trusty old Coleman campstove for Xmas and picked up a couple of cannisters of fuel in case of a storm but we have power still...hope y'all get power back soon! We cook on our woodstove usually during storms and it has a glass door which is nice for light

Sounds like generators are sold out, and if you get a new gen you might not find gas to go in it.

While they look better than they did, they are apparently slicker than yesterday. Gonna give them a try when it (hopefully) warms up a little more. But they’re still icy at the moment.

If you can't find a gen the Courtyard by Marriot in downtown Portland still has rooms available. I just talked to the manager and they have gone from their normal 2 floors of pet friendly to the entire hotel because of the weather.

We used credit card points from Chase to get the room. But I think the rate is like $117.

Also you can make friends with ANTIFA!

The current forecast is for more freezing rain this afternoon so you should make a decision soon.

Just let him bunk with you while we wait this out

We have a large, 82-year old oak tree in our back yard. Had it trimmed up mid-Fall. I was a little shocked by how much the arborist removed, but I’ve never been more grateful. We only had a few small twigs. Meanwhile, trees all over the neighborhood completely fell, lost major branches, and/or split enough that the entire tree will need to be removed.

We lost power twice, but not more than 20 minutes either time. It pays to be on the same small grid as fire and police.

Some friends on the outskirts of town are f’d, though. Trees fallen over long driveways, some with sections .50-.75 miles long covered in trees and no power. Too much for us to even try to bring in food or other supplies.

We got home 1/2 ago and now we're debating going back downtown because this forecast sounds ominous, lol.

Just got back from a tour around Willieville. The breadth of the tree damage (in the self described “Tree City”) is heartbreaking. Things are gonna look like shit for the next few years....

Oregon City had at least an inch of ice, and a TON of down trees and powerlines.

I got stuck in OC for 3 days. It's the worst of the worst. The ice is thicker than that, though. And trees are literally down everywhere. And Pine trees arent safe, either. Thats the one that took out the back window of my car.

I slid a couple of times leaving the apartment complex but it was pretty smooth. Everyone driving slower, I like it like that lol

I guess the west side didn’t get the brunt of it

and the OC wastewater plant is having issues so shit’s about to hit the river, apparently.

Anybody out in SW Portland toward Tigard? Was just wondering if it’s more freezing rain or snow

McMinnville got hit hard. We, and the surrounding areas, received most of the moisture in ice. It’s a complete shit show. One-half inch of ice is far worse than a bunch of snow.

Fuck dude. I can't get anyone out to my car until the earliest Monday Night. It's just stuck in OC. I can't remember a worse weekend than this one.
That sucks....hope things look up soon
