Start Aminu at power forward?

Meyers is not slow and lumbering. What the hell are you guys talking about? He is very athletic. He's much quicker than Aldridge, and then most of the PFs in the league. His issue is not athletisism, but court awareness and reaction time.

He might be quick for his size. But I'm not so sure he's quick compared to players that are smaller power forwards. 6"9ish.
But he does lack instincts, I agree.

I think he's slow and clumsy unless he's just running straight. He has very poor lateral quickness. I don't think he's as quick as Aldridge at all..

Agreed. I watch the kid and I just don't get where this rep as a great athlete comes from. He looks pretty average to me.

I'm fully on board with the idea of pairing Davis/Leonard and Vonleh/Plumlee. We've seen Leonard starting at the 4 (albeit only for 4 games); I'd like to see if he's more effective if we him start at the 5. Not necessarily immediately, but relatively soon.

I'm not saying play Leonard because "all he needs is time." Personally I'm not too confident in him ever being anything more than a gimmick player - he's got an outside chance of a Mehmet Okur ceiling IMO. But I do believe in a long leash because it's do or die time with respect to contract stuff. If he surprises me and flourishes, then awesome, if he can't hack it, then it makes a lot easier to cut bait this summer without worrying about giving up too soon.

Alright! Finally, someone joined me on the gimmick player bandwagon! Bout time!

He is a good athlete in terms of jumping for dunks or full speed running. He's not athletic at all in terms of quickness, foot speed, or reaction time.

15/9 with a 16 PER --> 98.8 DRtg <-- his defense has been awesome.

He's been Draymond Green w/o the passing. A total steal for the contract he signed. Hope he can keep up this production.

I don't see why not. It's not like he's playing way above his head. We all knew CJ wasn't going to drop 30+ every night. I see that as an unsustainable result, but what Aminu is doing seems totally sustainable to me.

He can't continue to shoot 45% from three.

But maybe he can be above 30%? If he can do that his defense and pushing the ball is sustainable. Could be best free agent signing of offseason.

Yeah, I'm sure the three point shooting will come down a bit, but his overall numbers seem pretty reasonable.

Overall, most of Neil's acquisitions seem pretty solid.

Aminu
Davis
Harkless
Plumlee

Even Vonleh looks pretty promising, but it's clear he's going to take a year or two before he's really ready to contribute.

For us to really maximize Aminus potential, he needs to log most of his minutes at the 4. He can be a Draymond Green like player, using his quickness to drive past players and taking and hitting open 3s when dame and CJ are doubled . Additionally it would allow us to switch up how we guard the pick n roll. If we can find a solid 3 and D type player, it will allow Aminu to play the 4 and really open up the floor for dame and CJ. Ed Davis has clearly shown how valuable he is snatching offensive rebounds and playing solid defense off the bench. If we really needed to play Ed there for a matchup (like zbo perhaps) we could, but we should let Aminu get acclimated to playing the 4 because it will maximize our future potential IMO.

I would start Dame, Crabbe, Aminu, Leonard and Plumlee and bring CJ off the bench with Davis and Harkless. I want the best bench in the west. I like Crabbe defending starting 2 guards at the beginning of games and CJ being our Mo Williams, Jamal Crawford with a green light to score.
