.... it's the wheel of fortune.....Ahh... the cycle of life.
Well said, there will always be those who think its easier to just scrap it/give up and start from scratch, even in the midst of growth and improvement.Everyone said this last year and then we went from 8 seed to 3 seed. We are bringing back core that won 49 games. It's more likely that we win 50 than it is that we miss the playoffs. We have a fucking All NBA First Team point guard!!!
As we go into the later part of free agency, it appears that the Blazers have decided to bring back essentially the same roster next season. The TPE that Neil touted so much will expire soon... and will most likely go unused. Also, it appears like no major trades will be made due to Neil’s unwillingness to offer anything of value. So we essentially have status quo... no one held accountable for last seasons epic failure... all the blame placed on Ed Davis, Shabazz Napier, and Pat Connoughton... and as a solution to take this team to the next level, Neil signs a guy that missed all of last season with a major injury, and another guy who couldn’t even stand out for the Nets. How does Neil expect this team to improve? Does he really think we got swept in the playoffs again because of end of the bench guys? And while other teams in the west improved and get healthier, Blazers stay the same again... There is a very good chance this is not a playoff team next season... 7/8th seed at best. Blazers fans deserve better... we need a GM like Toronto’s that can admit things aren’t working and change direction. Neil either has too big of an ego or is just scared to shake things up... either way, it will lead to eternal mediocrity.
He has held season tickets to the Bitch-Fest for the past 10 years. Are you a season ticket holder or have you ever been?
I had season tickets for about 5 years in the 100 level, starting when we drafted Oden... why does it matter? Are you a season ticket holder or have you ever been?

What do you know about that, son?

Well....
It goes round and round and round And round and round and round...................................................................................................and round and round and round and round and round and round and. .....

You’re just like Justin Timberlake.
Except pretty much completely different.

You're talking about players in the present day and using career number how is 2010 or 2014 relevant to now?I’ve said Demar is better; don’t know why you’re arguing that.
Also, I’m looking at career numbers - not just last year, since we have multiple seasons to go off of. These players have significant time in the league.
Cj is 55.2%
Demar is 53.6
Nurkic is way better offensively than Poetl. Poetl doesn’t have a post up game, at all. There is a reason Nurkic didn’t get paid big time either, because he can’t shoot. This is also why some of our own fans want Nurk gone for Collins so someone can stretch the floor from the 5. (I’ve seen that posted here, not saying you, or I, said it.)
I also think most GMs would take DeMar; however, with the value 3pt shooting has - I know some GMs would like to see what CJ would do in the “lead” dog role as well.
And defensive stats are undoubtedly affected by team defense. Being able to cover mistakes with elite shot blockers, help defenders, or having the benefit of guarding a non threat all aid in most measures of defense.
I gave other stats as to why I think hes at least an equal prospect, and I never said he was better because he was drafted 9th, I was using it to show how he was drafted in the same range as Collins and is a similar type of project, yet more proven.Actually I bet if you asked all the GM's in the league they would project Derozan and CJ as pretty close and seriously, because Poeltl was taken 9th that means he is better than a 10 selection? To me they are probably very similar and Poeltl has played 2 seasons where as Collins is 2 years younger and only played one season.
The only thing I want as a die hard fan is hope... whether it’s a 20 win team or 50 win team I want to know there is hope to greatness in the future... right now, with the same team as last season, I don’t have any hope... Neil needs to make a move to shake things up, give this team a different look... because doing the same thing over again and expecting different results is insaneJust wondered how you would react as a season ticket holder if the team went in the tank. Would you stop buying tickets?
For the first time I am a season ticket holder and if the team made a choice and traded for a player like Kawai or Paul George, and they left a year later and the team bottomed out, I don’t think I would continue as a season ticket holder. Still be a fan but not putting my $ into that.
Give me 5 years of entertainment with maybe being a move away from contention if something comes up, over a super high risk for 1 year.
Speaking with my wallet here a bit but it looks like you did the same after Oden/Roy/Aldridge fizzled.

Honestly in a lot of ways I agree with Gronk, Might not be popular around here but NO drives me nuts sometimes. It’s just on this forum I don’t think any of us can go give PA a phone call and give him a piece of our minds so the result is none of us have much say in the matter.I beg of you to use this analogy on your insistence to continually remind us of your stance....
By the way the guy who brought up the Blazers and Cleveland was @julius and I should apologize for not reading what he said very well and trying to argue with him about it.

So Collins, Baldwin, Simons, and Trent don't inspire any hope at all with you?The only thing I want as a die hard fan is hope... whether it’s a 20 win team or 50 win team I want to know there is hope to greatness in the future... right now, with the same team as last season, I don’t have any hope... Not to reach their full potential on a team where Dame and CJ take over half the shots and there won’t be consistent touches for them to develop... especially with ball hog ISO ball CJ being 7th in entire NBA in fga per gameSo Collins, Baldwin, Simons, and Trent don't inspire any hope at all with you?
So the same guy who built a team exceeding your expectations for the last 3 years is a bum because of a 4 game sample size since you raised your expectations because that team he built was actually looking good?I appreciate this thread. For me expectations play a part in this sure. My expectations 3 years ago have been met, my expectations in March were much higher to end the year though. I was never delusional enough to think the Blazers would beat GS or Houston and I even thought the NO series would be tough, but to be the only team to not win a game, to flame out the way they did was a tough pill for me to swallow.
Someone on here brought up last night that a healthy Blazer team would’ve put up a good series against Cleveland and after thinking about it some more there’s probably some truth to that. While other teams had injury riddled seasons, most were healthy in the playoffs and the Blazers weren’t.
Now, I just don’t like NO, it’s almost like every time he talks it gives me a headache. However in a lot of ways you’re right that the team has progressed and he’s made some good moves in the process.
It’s good to have some perspective once in a while.

We’ve been over my reasons for disliking NO about a hundred times it seems. You know full well it’s not because of 4 games. I don’t really think there is much he could do at this point to make me “like” him. We could argue over all the moves he’s made and I can absolutely admit that he has done many good things. He’s also done some bad.So the same guy who built a team exceeding your expectations for the last 3 years is a bum because of a 4 game sample size since you raised your expectations because that team he built was actually looking good?
NO shouldn’t be fired because of the fact I find his personality grating. If you want to build that case it would have to be for 2016 and then failing to bring in a 3rd star for Dame and CJ. Nurkic kind of saved him though he’s not a star he’s at least an above average NBA center. And that’s all good. I’d bet that there are as many NO haters as there are supporters these days. The difference is there is only one or two that treat the rest as if we have ADHD and keep forgetting what they just read in the previous thread and the thread before that... and the thread before that..... day after day after day....
I’m 60/40 on NO myself.
