Another solid performance from Baldwin and Layman.
I admit I have been a Layman critic, but maybe like Crabbe and Connaughton before him, he will earn a spot in the rotation during his 3rd season. Seems to be a pattern with our second round picks. Given the lack of depth at SF, there is definitely an opportunity there for the taking. Glad to see his shot falling. Other than that first game against GSW, this has been the first evidence that he has extended his shooting range out to the NBA 3-point line. He also seems much more aware and locked in on the defensive end. Good for him!
Man, if Baldwin had a reliable 3-point shot, he could be a starting PG in the NBA. He does everything else so well. I'm not comparing their style of play or skill sets, but 10 years ago, he could have had an Andre Miller type of career - a solid starting PG in spite of the lack of a reliable 3-point shot. As is, he's definitely making a case to be our back up PG and take all of Napier's minutes. Plus, he's only 22, so there is hope the 3-pointer will become more consistent. He's in a great position, learning the game from watching and talking to Lillard. What a perfect role model for him, both on and off the court. I'm glad he's availing himself of Lillard's tutelage.
