China is going down in a bad way. Those poor people.Even Germany has sent warships to the region to keep China in check...China is not going to have an easy time threatening military expansion. They've arrested a woman at a photo shoot over wearing a kimono ....anti Japanese sentiments are growing there as well..Isolationism is going to really hurt China.
Xi is up for election in November..this is is power grab moment before he gets voted out.China is going down in a bad way. Those poor people.
Good point. I didn't even realize they could still vote him out...Xi is up for election in November..this is is power grab moment before he gets voted out.
All I care about is that we prevent China from invading Taiwan ala Russian style.Actually Taiwan is the largest investor in the Chinese manufacturing sector....Taiwan always said it will win the war with China with economics, not weapons. As it is the best thing the world could do is to vote Taiwan back into the United Nations and reinstall their embassies there...I'm disappointed they are pampering China over Taiwan's status
It sounds like she had safe travels. Pre covid I had plans to travel to a couple pacific islands. I hope I can do that soon.My wife just returned after 5 weeks and eveyone in Taiwan assured her China will never invade the island. There's no sense of impending danger there at all amongst the locals. She was worried more before she went to visit family and now feels it's not a pressing issue there anymore than it always has been
I've heard she likes dogs deep fried with basil and hot sauce.
Semiconductors made in Taiwan are necessary for the functioning of everything from smartphones to cars. Taiwan manufactures around 65 percent of the world’s semiconductors and close to 90 percent of advanced chips. Annually, a third of all new computing power generated globally is fabricated in Taiwan. The US National Security Council estimates that the loss of TSMC “could disrupt the world economy to the tune of more than $1 trillion.”
I'm not sure if this is a new development.Xi has reportedly instructed his military to be prepared to invade Taiwan by 2027.
Former US Advisor: Destroy Taiwan Semiconductor Factories If China Invades
A growing body of evidence suggests that the US would blow up the global economy to prevent China from laying claim to Taiwan’s semiconductor factories.

No one country on this planet should ever make one of the worlds most important products. It is clearly a national security risk to every nation on this planet to do so.
If this ever did happen. I would see no other option but to follow this course of action. You justifiably couldn't allow China to take control of the rest of the worlds chip production.
Yep. China is screwed, no matter what. Invading Taiwan would simply hasten their demise. As well we should, fuck China. I have suspected this is part of the reason TSMC is building so many new fans in the US, they want to remain viable if Taiwan were invaded. If China were to do this it would be fantastically stupid for them.
Totally agree it's sabre rattling as I don't believe the Pacific to be the powder keg that some others do. Also completely support Taiwan and their democratic leadership doing whatever they wish. The posturing to Russia and SA are what's more concerning in regards to China, imo.Sabre Rattling...I'm proud of president Tsai for making the trip and being a leader at a time when Taiwan needs strong leadership
My sister in law is from Penghu Island
It's the doorstep island if a mainland invasion happens.(actually it's a chain of islands that used to be called the Pescadores by the Portuguese) The main island is called Penghu...lots of soldiers live there. First line of defense for the Taiwanese armyDid a little googling because I had never heard of the place, but from just looking at the pictures, it appears to be a beautiful island.
