I agree. She is not a favorite for me and certainly her trip was meaningless and instantly insulted the Chinese Government. She did NOT need to go..
I can't stand her. She did need to go once China told her not to. The Chinese Government the can pound sand.

China has flown into Taiwanese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Phillipines waters over contested islands for a long time ....they try to claim all the outlying islands and Chinese and have been doing this for a long, long time....they also are trying to push the border of India back to control more Himalayan watersheds as China is turning into a desert. They said they were going to do live fire military excercises around Taiwan when Pelosi arrived so this is them saying....we told you so! They also assured everyone that these were drills and they weren't attacking Taiwan. Let them piss off more of our Pacific alliance partners....if they continue, they'll end up suffering sanctions like Russia and have assets frozen....the Pacific alliance can also blockade Chinese ports and surround their coastlines....they know this but they have to show some bluster to not lose face. They did this after Tienamen Square and they do this every election year. Taiwan has an extensive defense system built into their mountains that cannot be bombed from the air....they have fighter jet runways tunneled into the mountains as well..Taiwan has been building a state of the art defensive system for 50 years and has missiles pointed directly at Beijing that can strike quickly. China really has nothing to gain from starting a Pacific war with all the Pacific alliance partners joining forces against them..they know this. the US army and S Korean army are also holding live fire drills and a practice run at assasinating Kim Jong Un today..our National Guard just did military drills with the Taiwanese military a couple of months ago....war games...lot of that going around these days.

The Provocative Politics of Nancy Pelosi’s Trip to Taiwan
What is the House Speaker’s high-profile visit really about?

......It’s a pretty mixed bag, but none of this is the sort of thing that people in Taiwan think about all day long. We’re paying more attention to the Pelosi visit in the U.S. than my friends in Taiwan are. And that makes sense because I don’t think the Pelosi visit, all of this brouhaha, is about Taiwan at all. It’s about American politicians thinking that this is the moment to poke Beijing or to stand up to Beijing or to prove how macho they are relative to Beijing. And, if Taiwan gets caught in the middle, well . . .

China is the bad guy in this story, not the US delegation nor the Taiwanese delegation. You can keep fishing for partisan softballs but they aren't helping the US or Taiwan. You should cut and paste some of the support that is in the news today for Taiwan instead of going for the "Pelosi bashing" that's such a "Hillary bashing" move. You might not care about Taiwan but I sure as hell do.

So, then....what becomes of her visit? More good than harm? China may very well be the bad guy. Let's rub their nose in it.

How in the hell does a politician traveling to a country have anything to do with a different country?
It's not China's business. They can piss off.

There is no harm being done by visiting anywhere.

Anybody who reacts in a negative way to a visit to a non-violent nation is a part of the problem.

Well, they think it is...whether we like it, or not. Just like Ukraine isn't Russia's busineness.

Although, China is much more cagey than Russia, so it will be interesting to see how all this pans out.

It doesn't matter what they think. It's not their business. That needs to be made clear to China. If they don't want a visit to happen that's all the more reason to visit.

And Russia can piss off as well.

How this will pan out is China will saber rattle because that's their only choice other than full support. Any other choice they make will result in half of their population dying sooner than it has to and the other half turning on the government.

Not to mention, Taiwan would kick China's ass out, even without the help of the allies.

Taiwan is far easier to defend than Ukraine, and far harder to attack. Not to mention FAR better prepared to defend itself.

I'm pretty certain @riverman will figure all of this out

The last time there was a Taiwan crisis, China’s low-tech military was badly outmatched by U.S. forces. Not now.

The United States can no longer assume it has military dominance in the event of a showdown with China over Taiwan, experts say

Good thing the US isn't alone against China...we have the entire Pacific Rim partnership and all their militaries as well....India is one and they have nukes...China can be cut off easily by a group effort....the US won't be in that fight alone, nor were they in WWII. Nato was weak before the Ukraine invasion added new members and shored up their armed forces just recently..China has seen what Russia is going through from invading. I don't think that is their next move...just war games and sabre rattling. Fact is most countries are now having trouble finding recruits to join the military..China and Russia as well...Russia is now pulling retired soldiers out of retirement...it's a different breed of young people these days. Not a lot of patriotic sacrifices in the mindset.

Too bad the US has completely stopped investing in our military since the 90s... Probably going to have to commandeer some old fishing vessels just to run out the white flag...

You trust India. HAHAHAHA! They're all Trump lovers, pal.

They are in conflict with China over a border invasion....and they are our ally....who I don't trust these days would be Republicans. India aired news and expressed anger at China's reaction to Taiwan...they've recently had border skirmishes with the Chinese and know what they did in Tibet as well...China is not surrounded by friends.

I have hundreds of Indian clients. Most named Patel. Anyway, I've never seen such a mass of Trump lovers. This is a serious microcosm.
