I think Orlando will win at least 2 more. They're playing much better the second half of the season, and have had enough lotto picks they're not trying to add another few spots.

Washington and Indiana are only 1 win ahead of us. Indy easiest game is against Detroit. Others are all playoff opponents. Washington actually plays Orlando, Houston is their other winnable one. The rest are all playoff opponents.

So possible both Indy and Washington could lose out or only have 1 more win.

Also final game of the season is unpredictable. We play Golden State. But if their playoff seed is locked they might sit all rotational players and start 3rd string.

Fucking Warriors would fuck us like that wouldn't they.

Yeah, but they may play Payton II and he may single-handedly beat the Blazers just to show us what a great player he is.

both teams could play their 5 worst players 48 minutes

We'd still lose.

Indiana losing to Dallas.
Wizards host Boston tomorrow.
Magic at Memphis tomorrow.

Portland needs to lose to keep pace.
We need to lose out, it's that simple. The next player who needs to sit down is Nas. I'm sure it's fun to ball out and all but he's already signed his extension. That being said, I don't think we'll have to sit Nas until the Spurs game and then he might as well stay sitting after that.

I think the Wizards will lose their game to the Magic and that will give us the 5th spot in the lotto outright.

Blazers are tied with Orlando right now for 5th in the lottery....but Washington and Indiana are a half game behind

an ill-timed win can drop Portland from 5th to 8th
That Spurs game will be interesting.

Also it will be in Austin which will be strange.

In Austin? So that should be like a home game...isn't Austin the "Portland of Texas" (not to be confused with Portland Texas, the actual Portland of Texas)?

Great point. Actually all the Spurs people said the team is considering moving up there.

Not sure man. Very nice arena, tons of fans support. Not sure. You just never know….that’s why I warn people to be careful wishing for them to sell our Blazers.
After the bad press from the Seattle situation, I have a hard time seeing the league (owners) approving the move of another franchise, with history, out of their media market unless that franchise was losing more money than the increase in said franchise's valuation increase. The only team I really think of that doesn't have a legit history is the Thunder but I think they're going to stay put too.

If our team gets sold I don't think the league would let the new owner move it... especially when they're planning on expanding with additional teams in Vegas and Seattle.

If the Blazers don't land Wemby, and decide to keep their pick instead of trading it for a super dude, they should draft to their strengths and not rely on a rookie to cover their weakness. Grab a kid with mad handles that can run Chauncey's zippy whippy offense.

If the Blazers plan on fixing the defense, it's pretty clear it won't happen from internal growth. They'll need to hire more ball stoppers and rim protection from elsewhere in the NBA.

Great points. I just know that they are paying for my mortgage, car payments and helping put my kids though college….. So I’m pretty cool with things staying the same.

I often peruse this board,
though sometimes I choose to ignore.

With the team near the bottom of rankings,
the idea appears that we're "tanking".

I laugh at this silly notion,
as if losing is a magical potion.

Without some young development
it's hard for a team to get relevant.

As I ponder this thought with disdain,
it's the fans that can't handle the pain.

So they invent a ridiculous theory,
season's losing has made them all weary.

To hell with this team and it's stanking,
I know.....they have to be tanking!

So I'll yell it from top or' the mountain,
the anger, it flows like a fountain.

In the end, every win is precious,
and losing is never "selfless"

The team I want, is a hero,
if they fight till the clock reads zero.

I've pondered this poem for a minute,
concerned I might push all your limits.

Since you've read this and lingered,
You're welcomed to give me the finger.

Dumb question

if Portland traded down out of lottery would Chicago get our pick? I assume not but wonder how it’s worded in the trade paperwork. Again I’m sure it doesn’t…..

No. If that was the case they'd just get the Knicks pick.

No, the Blazers pick owed to Chicago is independent to the Knicks pick. If the Blazers don't make the playoffs they keep it.

Blazers are free to trade either pick this summer but not both until after the draft.

this is probably saying the same thing, but the Blazer's pick is lottery protected. I was thinking that once the lottery is held, and Portland is in it, they could trade their pick.

but when I look at the protections, it's 1-14 protected, so there might be a trip wire preventing a trade down

on the other hand, after the lottery, if they were to trade the 7th pick for a 16th pick and two future 1st's that would seem to be legal

OKC could start a second franchise with all their draft picks, get established in that new community, then consolidate over.

Wait! What!?!?!? Chauncey has an offensive plan? I've seen little evidence of that throughout the season.
