I am a Christian and know the Bible well. Christianity can really be broken into two groups, Old Testament vs New Testament Christians

There's also II Timothy 3:16-17 to consider.

I believe the Old Testament's purpose, including its vile and sinful acts, etc., is to inform and lead us to the need for a Savior, Jesus Christ.

I'm not asking what your sister did, I'm asking what you believe.

I believe she had a 13-year same-sex relationship and raised 2 children (biologically her own, FWIW.) I also believe she's now hetero-sexual and doesn't condone that lifestyle any longer. I believe that God created marriages to be a man and a woman. I also believe that people make their own choices. If two people of the same sex decide to have a relationship together, raise kids, etc., then that's their prerogative. If their state recognizes their marriage (if they do marry), then so be it. Me agreeing, or not agreeing, with those facts, really has no bearing one way or another. Does it?

My question: why don’t you like gay marriage? Just a reason. Just the Bible? Do you believe every single thing in the Bible?

I think you worry too much about labeling people.

Your sister was in a relationship with someone she loved, loved enough to raise a family with. Now she is in a different relationship with someone else she loves, loves enough to raise a family with. You don't see these as being the same which I find odd. And according to your prerogative, one of these relationships should not be considered equal under god or the law. Which again I find odd.

I think we can all agree that your opinion should not matter.

The problem that some of us have is that due to quirks in the US system, although your opinions are definitely in the minority, they still get encoded into law, despite the intended separation of church and state.

I do fine. Many to respond to. You're so far behind, you think you're in first place.

Read the room. You aren't witty, and in most cases you are so uninformed that you don't even qualify for a charitable placement.

Yea we must tolerate anti gay beliefs. It’s the right thing to do.
I don’t tolerate them, I just don’t belittle people for having asinine thoughts on it.

I often recall the song “Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world”. If he loves everyone, why shouldn’t I try to do the same?

@ABM a few questions...

You believe that gay people should not get married in the church. Are there other sacraments they should not be allowed to participate in? Baptism? Communion? Confession? Last Rites?

When things are clearly wrong and hurtful to other humans I have zero tolerance. None. There is too MUCH tolerance if you ask me. Antifa, Proud Boys, anti gay, anti black, anti women, fuck alllll those people and society should have no tolerance for them. Period. But as long as people can be fake Christians and use the Bible as their shield for their shitty behavior, they’ll always be around.

It's way past time we stop suffer religious nuts and their needs to lord over people.

The funny thing is that if you read the Woes of the Pharisees as described by Jesus and you compare the current religious nuts... you realize that these people that call themselves believers in Jesus are the Pharisees of today.

Item #4 is especially telling:

They taught the law, but did not practice some of the most important parts of the law – justice, mercy, faithfulness to God. They obeyed the minutiae of the law such as tithing spices, but not the weightier matters of the law

The days of reckoning are coming...

“Tolerance” of certain groups of people isn’t tolerance. It’s coddling and giving permission. THEY need to show tolerance to people who have no control over who they are and just want to live their lives. We don’t need to show tolerance for people in the wrong.

No reason for that. ABM has been here from the beginning.

In the beginning Denny created Ripcity2. And the forum was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And Denny saw the forum, that it was good: and Denny divided the main forum from the darkness. And Denny called it the main forum. and the darkness he called OT.

This writing prompt might need it's own thread.

This is great

I think belittling people is wrong but I believe belittling asinine beliefs is necessary.....Jesus did that all the time....see the temple of the money lenders...he gave them a piece of his mind.

OK, you keep believing that. The fact is, I don't agree with same-sex marriages. So what? If they are legalized, they're legalized. I accept that. Still doesn't mean that I agree with the outcome. No foisting is involved whatsoever. And, if I choose to support and/or vote for someone with my same beliefs, so be it. Last I checked, though, they would have to be voted in by the majority. Again, no foisting involved. Pretty straight forward. No pun intended.
The majority didn't vote Trump in, and he was immoral to the extreme.

But everybody who voted for him was either uninformed or immoral.

Just like those who vote for anybody who would make abortion the choice of anybody but a woman and her doctor.

Just like anybody who would vote for a person who would prohibit any two people from marrying.

These are examples of immoral government overreach and only uninformed or immoral people support that.

I think you assume too much.

She was in an abusive marriage and divorced when her kids were still relatively young. She then "fell" for a a woman who was there to help pick up the pieces. They bother raised the kids into adults. As it turned out, she was being verbally abused throughout that relationship. She ended it. She's now in no "serious relationship, but wanting to be in one....with a man.

I'm not a Catholic. But, nonetheless, I wouldn't believe in any same-sex "marriage", even if it were conducted on a beach in Tahiti.

Oh, so now we just have "marriage", not marriage.
Whatever happened to feed the hungry?
