Richmond talked today about interest in a straignt across swap of Norm for Jerami Grant with the Pistons.....Norm has a good contract and Grant gives us a guy who can guard Lebron.....I'd do it in a heartbeat...also says more teams want Roco than I ever thought.....Cavs want him....I don't know their roster well enough but a player and picks from them would probably be doable. Richman mentioned Osmond for Roco might be it or Hart from New Orleans....don't know much about either guy. I like swapping Norm for Grant given our guard glut and need for perimeter defenders with length

Maybe Osman and a 1st round pick would be possible to get from them.

Pass on J. Grant.

Inefficient 20 ppg scorer - an absolute ball stopper/black hole.

Only won 19 games in Detroit on over 1200 shots taken.

One of the most overrated players in the game.

he chucks in Detroit because he’s allowed to. He’s already shown in Denver and OKC he can be a great role player. It just depends on whether or not those rumors about him wanting to be the main guy are true. If they’re not, he’d be a great fit.

He wants to be featured in the offense as a #1 option.

The solid glue player from Denver/OKC no longer exists.

Grant is 6 foot 8 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan...but only 210 lbs.
One year left on his contract (after this year).

If we are giving up on this year and trading players for next year, I guess he and Little can both get minutes at SF. He could also get some minutes at PF depending on the matchup. He is a good perimeter defender but not a great rebounder.

I would imagine that by the time he lands on his 5th team he will realize he is never going to be a #1 option. I would do it

he's also looking for a rather large extension I believe

I was high on Hart as well coming out of college. Still am but not as much. He is no Wesley Matthews on offense though.
And he is not any bigger than Norman. Actually, NP has more length. Is he a better defensive player? Maybe but is he really a no-brainer next to Dame?

JH: 6′ 8.5” wingspan and 8′ 3.5” standing reach
NP 6'11 wing and an 8'6" standing reach.

JH 33% last two years from 3pt line
Norman is in the high 30's
He plays better defense then all our guards and everyone talks about wing span and reach all they want but if you don't use to your advantage then it useless. Plus Hart is better team player then Powell and better rebounder then Powell for his position even though Powell got 9 boards last night but usually gets about two or 3 a night.

I’m completely fine with a straight 1-for-1 deal. Pistons got the #1 pick with him as their #1 option last year. I don’t suspect Blazers will win that much more with him as the 2nd option behind Simons. I think the Nas injury just makes it more clear we need to tank as soon as well lose more games without him.

Grant as the starting 3 would be good going into next year. If he plays like Denver Grant, great. If not, there will be avenues to trade Grant if Nas comes back and shows he’s too good to keep out of the starting 5 even on a contending team. No brainer for me if it’s straight across deal.

But why has everyone been talking about Grant like he’ll command more than 1 1st and/or young assets? Is a straight across deal even realistic for us.

Last night, Danny Marang on the Jacked Ramsey's podcast went into more detail of what he has been talking about for a while in terms of a possible CJ trade with New Orleans.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ya7yr8vz

Josh Hart - $12M for 3 years...13.5/7.6/4.2 this season
Satoransky - $10M ending contract
Jaxson Hayes - $5.3M through next season...career .633 FG%

There are a couple of items here of interest. First, $3,515,918. That is the difference between the players coming in and CJ going out. That is very much a Jody-approved, Vulcan-likey number as it would put the Blazer just under the Luxury Tax by $509,760 and turns the Blazers into a team GETTING money versus PAYING money and keeps them out of the Repeater Tax penalty range.

Marang also suggested a couple of picks, which New Orleans has in abundance due to multiple picks and/or swaps coming from the Lakers and Bucks for the Davis and Holiday deals.

That is all well and good from a rebuilding Draft capital, getting under the Lux Tax, and finally decluttering out backcourt a bit although with Hart coming in, that doesn't really declutter, but does open up some shots for other people. Plus, Hart adds a little more size.

Satoransky is just filler on an ending contract which also helps out the Blazers who need to pay And and possibly Nurk.

It's the Jaxon Hayes part that makes me wonder how that would go. He has 12 misdemeanor counts hanging over his head from a domestic complaint/arrest incident. Given the fervor Billups hiring was met with, what would be the ramifications of bringing on Hayes even though as of now, they are just charges. Some of his Draft profiles compared him to Jarrett Allen, which would be something the Blazers could definitely use.

I'm just curious as to the Board's thoughts if something like that were to take place.
I'd trust @hoopsjock and his channel more than that one, but that's just me.

It's all about flipping those salaries to a 3rd team and getting NOP to absorb some salary back with their $17M TPE. That way Portland can save more money and create a TPE of their own.

Example:

Portland would get a $20.8M TPE in this type of deal. Portland could also add a deal for Grant, Sabonis, Brown, Anunoby, etc. into this deal and save that 4th team a bunch of money (a bunch of picks would obviously have to go back).

New Orleans $17M TPE presents opportunities to be creative in a CJ to New Orleans trade.

The first point better not be fuckin true or Cronin needs to go ASAP.

upload_2022-1-27_21-36-33.png

it's a big if but if that's really how Cronin is thinking the whole fucking shit show needs to be burned to the ground, starting in Seattle

wouldn't that be something though....having 4 untouchable players in trade discussions and 3 of them under 6'4

let's see, between the untouchable foursome, and the injured players that will be hard to trade, that leaves RoCo, McLemore, & Snell as the trade bait. That should fetch a couple of all-stars

Btw what a terrible interview. Who are those two whiny bitches? Is that what Portland radio is like? Yikes, why would anyone listen to that willingly? Also quick suggesting Powell isn’t very valuable because of his contract, just completely clueless.

Cronin learned under Buchanon too....he's worked for 3 GMs and stuck...all 3 of those GMs are gone. I like Joe as the GM right now...mainly for his relationships with Chauncey and his cap and scouting knowlege....he's not Neil Olshey ...we're seeing Dame and Chauncey and Joe working together to build the next chapter and personally I'm going to see how Joe handles this offseason before I throw him under the "Neil" bus.....

yeah Cronin really doesn’t have to do anything now outside of ducking the tax. And now with Nas out he doesn’t even have to clear minutes for him, so as much as I want him gone, I could see a Powell trade getting kicked to the offseason if he doesn’t get exactly what he wants.

I know Joe is going to be really careful to get better with any trade he makes at the deadline and don't see him selling low on anybody now. He probably feels he has to shed 3 mil at the deadline as his first move...Norm or Roco for a player and pick would solve that...probably kicking himself for not picking up the phone on Nas last week.

Nas is part of the teams core going forward, doubt he was involved in any trade discussions.

Another thing — if Simons is as untouchable as Dame then why would they try to build around CJ?

Ant’s rise should earn him the starting SG spot next to Lillard.

Unless CJ finally embraces the Manu Ginobli role…

It's not what Quick is saying, it is what Nurk is saying that Cronin told him. And Quick immediately asked him, "Really?", and thought it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Now, "If", that was exactly what Cronin told Nurk and he really meant it, that makes me throw up more than a little.
