...seems like Kenny Hustle would do well under the new Billups regime -- and the price would seemingly be low so whatever it takes to be highest bidder would still be worth it. Who else is out there as a top secret defender??

keeping with the raptor theme

Avdija
Martin Twins
Vanderbilt
Precious
Javonte Green
Bembry
Diallo
J. Tate
Jaden McDaniels
Grant Williams

all in the top 100 defensively

yeah...people think it's easy to rip off a 30 mil bandaid just like that....he's our hardest contract to trade right now....too many years left on his deal for even bottom feeders to bite in my view...when he has a year left maybe....with 3....nobody is buying...it's not because they won't try it's just that they won't sell low on him.
We won't be contenders with a Dame-CJ backcourt.

Players with worse contracts have been traded.

I love how almost anyone who does a pod, is blasted or lampooned in some manner, or it's done better by someone else. I respect the effort, the more serious approach.

His whole commentary mentioned how it balanced out Portland in a better manner, but doesn't think Grant is the type that puts Portland anywhere near contender status. That seems entirely reasonable.
Let’s start with this: He suggested they trade Grant for Norm Powell, then says Grant doesn’t want to be the 4th option. He wants to be second.

Did they forget about Dame / CJ / Ant and possibly Nurk?

Pointless commentary.

good luck....don't see how this happens this season. ..Ant is the same size as CJ and also not a good defender so either way you end up with a small backcourt.....Ant however has a tradeable contract. So does Norm.....choices...and Chauncey has our guards buying into team play so good chance everybody improves on that side of the ball with Chauncey. Dame also will surely weigh in on who he wants to build a team with..we'll see.....I wouldn't waste to much thought on CJ moving this season though..a CJ Dame backcourt means you need a taller defensive minded SF to compensate....not another 6'3 guy.....that'll change...my money is on Norm moving not CJ

And if that is the case, we are in for more of the same. Mediocrity.

CJ and Covington to Cavs for for KLove and Okoro

I've been hoping for that for weeks. Okoro is high-upside and a great complimentary piece next to Dame/Simons. CJ for Love is a bad contract for a bad contract. CJ is the better player, Love expires a year earlier. I think it would be best to follow that deal with shipping Powell somewhere (I like the thought of packaging with a pick for Grant to make Dame happy), but we wouldn't have to.

Lillard/Simons
Powell/Okoro
Little/Okoro
Love/Nance
Nurkic/Nance

If we made a follow-up move

Lillard/Simons
Okoro/Simons
Little/Grant
Grant/Love
Nurkic/Nance

It would have some flaws, but I love that rotation. Dame/Simons are surrounded by length, athleticism, and decent big-man shooting.

well there's a reason why every casino is profitable.

Fwiw, Lowe mentioned that another team that we haven't heard about in a while being back in the running for Simmons (that was in convos before).

when?

Mediocrity isn't how I view the process or actually how I view the team at all give how banged up we've been all year.

And the year before that.... and the year before that.... and the year before that....

We have been "banged up" for.... what.... four years straight?

on his pod with Marks yesterday, a throwaway comment mostly before predicting that no simmons deal happend before the deadline. 18 min mark.

"I've been saying no (on a Simmons deal happening in the next two weeks) for a while now. A team that's been out of it could get back into it, but I'm not sure and won't name the team."

With extra cheese?

Trade Ant now.

Trade CJ in the off-season.

Win.
What are we going to win? 8th seed? 7th seed? 1st round exit after PHX hands it to us….?

Simons is a future piece. Trent was also! Instead we have two non-future pieces to move; CJ and Norm

Dame wants to win now.....Norm and CJ are locked up for the immediate future ...Ant is going to get paid...we can't pay 100mil to guards ...that's the future. Teams that will trade also won't want CJs deal on the books in my view....that's a mistake we aren't shedding until CJ has 1 year left on his deal....2 maybe...3...no way
Its my opinion that Joe will run scenarios past Dame and he will have his input, same with Chauncey, then Jody & Bert. I say this because Dame made it clear he wants to win now, and he aint playing for no draft pick.
I kind of think CJ will find a new team and they keep Powell and Ant. But I also think the unexpected to happen too?

We won't win anything with CJ and Dame together. So if Dame wants to win now, he would want to ship CJ out.

CJ and Dame have won together so I don't believe that's true but it's a popular narrative around here.....Chauncey is that game changer in my view..team ball isn't up to one guy...it's up to 5 to buy in. CJ has been playing unselfishly more than not since he came back....CJ and Dame are better ball protectors than Ant. Success moving forward is contingent on having 9 guys locked into a system that make each other better...we need moves to achieve that...still Dame CJ and Nurk are hands down our best players right now. Norm has looked like a guy who is not fully into this team...don't know why...just seems unengaged too often and I like Norm's game when he's on but he doesn't touch the ball much and usually ends a game with zero or only one assist...he's not a passing guard by any stretch. Norm can be traded for some length and some cap savings
What did they win? I don't see a championship banner hanging up when they played for the team.

You think Dame wants to win a playoff series and be good with it? If you do, you seriously don't understand the Psyche of Dame.

You're barking up the wrong tree. That dude has an extremely low bar for gauging success.
