The waiting is excruciating. I'm having fun watching the young guys play but I want something to happen. I know a bunch will be off-season but it would be cool to have an indication before the trade deadline that let's fans see the basic direction. If they stay with CJ and Nurk etc along the margins I think I'll find another hobby.

you know how many 50 win seasons they've played together? Winning is winning....no championship together? sure...just like most other franchises ..Adam Morrison has two championships....you can see those and feel they make him a winning player if you like...his last stint was the Idaho Stampede ..I saw CJ win a 4OT semi final against the Nugs a couple years ago....that's winning...I've seen both guys go to the mat and win games with huge scoring games....Jokic has never won a championship....nor Gobert or Harden or Melo or Steve Nash etc.......that's not the bar for winning....making the playoffs is the bar for winning...until you do that you don't get a shot at the title....we have the record with Dame and CJ for making the playoffs in the modern era....that's winning. The idea that they can't win together is just wishful thinking from CJ haters in my view. I won't have a problem if he's traded but it won't be because he's a "loser" CJ is much better than he gets credit for around here. Coaches all know this as well. He's been on their scouting reports since Batum left......Ant just made his first scouting report. The one thing I'll say is CJ is overpaid.....that is a fact. As to Dame....he's stated that he's already won in basketball...and he believes in the guy you don't believe in....the guy he's spent his career playing next to...yeah....now I could be wrong...Dame might want to see CJ traded and if he does I sure haven't seen it.
Winning 50 games is great and all, but Dame wants a title bro. The Warriors split up their two guards because they did not fit. We have not and have expected different results for some reason. It has been far too long. CJ needs to bounce. You can love him on another team.

He says he wants to win a title here in Portland. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is his 'bar'.
lol....but he also said the team may or may not achieve and it wouldn't rob him of his accomplishments. We all want a championship for Dame and the City and I look at the next couple years as a continued effort to make it possibly happen. I think Dame is good with being on board with new GM & Coach and helping them with that task.

sound intriguing...

He's also said if he ends his career without one it's fine, he's already won in his mind...Dame sees a career in Portland as the franchise player as the bar...of course he wants to win a championship...that's why they lace them up...Dame isn't chasing it on the big market scene either nor does he want to do that. We're really lucky to have this guy as our face of the franchise
Its like other professions where someone will turn down a promotion and a chance to move some where else. Its not always bout titles or money with all superb performers, sometimes it's about where you want to live and what you got going on currently.
When I take my boat in front of Dames house on the Willamette and on occasion there are adults and kids playing on their property I get the feeling Dame like's roots? What I want to see is what kind of impact Chauncey might have on convincing players and agents that PTown would be a good option.

And now you have the Brooklynn experiment that may lose one of the three? Dont know if its true or not but one sports commentator mentioned he's heard James doesn't like living in Brooklynn?

Maybe Chauncey can influence KLeonard or PG to want to couple up with Dame? Between Chauncey and Dame they should be somewhat networked.

I’m trying to be nicer so I’ll let you think on that statement.
Okay, here's a question then: If we trade Norm and CJ and you don't want a guard back no matter what, then who becomes the 3rd guard?

Example:

Portland would get a $20.8M TPE in this type of deal. Portland could also add a deal for Grant, Sabonis, Brown, Anunoby, etc. into this deal and save that 4th team a bunch of money (a bunch of picks would obviously have to go back).

New Orleans $17M TPE presents opportunities to be creative in a CJ to New Orleans trade.

I disagree...he's a two way pt guard who can protect the ball, distribute, slash and play defense....I think he's as close to a true pt guard as we've had in a long time actually. He's been a bright spot in a dark season for me. He's absolutely capable of being a solid backup pt guard and his defense is more playoff ready than most of our other guards as it stands...he's a two way, cheap contract player....just what we need since we're going to be paying big bucks to players off season
He's not a two-way PG to me. Because he's not good offensively. He can't shoot at all. Defenders can sag off, help off, and go under pick n rolls on him. There's a reason he was gettable for the minimum and wasn't in the rotation to start the year.

If we can get a better 3rd guard than him while trading CJ and Norm, we should do it.

He's fine offensively..he dunks...slashes...finishes at the rim....he's better at the rim than Ant ..but he's a pass first pt guard and we have a history of shoot first pt guards since Andre Miller left....people didn't think Andre Miller was a go to scorer but he was definitely a two way pt guard...as I said...we disagree about DSJ....I think he's a keeper
I mean, every NBA player does some things well and if you just focus on those things, then they'll sound like a good rotation player. The team didn't seem to think he's rotation worthy. He probably walks this offseason. I'd rather have someone who's better playing off Ant on the bench anyway

What are we going to win? 8th seed? 7th seed? 1st round exit after PHX hands it to us….?

Simons is a future piece. Trent was also! Instead we have two non-future pieces to move; CJ and Norm

Trade Ant. Trade CJ.

Dame wants to win now.....Norm and CJ are locked up for the immediate future ...Ant is going to get paid...we can't pay 100mil to guards ...that's the future. Teams that will trade also won't want CJs deal on the books in my view....that's a mistake we aren't shedding until CJ has 1 year left on his deal....2 maybe...3...no way
Then trade Powell and bring CJ off the bench as 6th man. Realize we overpaid him and live him coming off the bench. I’m sitting here (in Mexico) watching tonight’s game against the Rockets; Ant is THE MAN and CJ is a dribbling dribble - it’s just what it is. Ant is a future AllStar…CJ is not!

Trade CJ and his contract to a team with a similar issue (Knicks) and at least get a Power Forward back

I'm still saying just overpay for Simmons, let Morey win. Send RoCo to the Bulls, send CJ, DJJ our 2023, 2025 and 2027 picks (top 4 protected) to the Sixers and receive Ben Simmons, our 2022 first, Shake Milton and a min contract player from the Bulls.

I also think given Boston's struggles you could get Jaylen Brown and a min contract player or two from them for Ant, Norm and Larry.

Some people would want to see the rest of the season with Shake, BennyMac, Brown, Simmons and Nurk with DSJ, Watford and Snell off the bench until Dame would come back at the end because that team would make the play-ins and playoffs. I would make the decision immediately to trade Nurk for Christian Wood. I would also convert Watford to a three year rookie min contract. We would come in under the tax.

We would go into the off season with Dame, Nas, Brown, Simmons, Wood, Shake, Watford, GB3 and possibly a Bulls min player under contract with a first and a second round draft pick, the MLE and min contracts to build out our bench.

I really think the Bulls, Sixers, Celtics and Rockets all take those deals. I really think that we would either scare someone really badly in the first round or go on a contending run this year and definitely be a contender for a while.

Okay, here's a question then: If we trade Norm and CJ and you don't want a guard back no matter what, then who becomes the 3rd guard?

Where did I say trade CJ and Norm? CJ, sure. Not real keen on moving Norm, but ok. Now that the goal posts have been moved let’s go with the assumption we trade both.

Next answer: Dennis Smith Jr. + Ben + CJ Elleby (and yeah, probably not a great rotation but I don’t care. No trades are going to make us contenders this year unless Morey loses his mind and trades us Embiid for CJ and Norm + Nurk for Durant) or some looney tunes bullshit. I’m being over the top, but you get the point.

Final answer: You said NEXT year they’d play 48 minutes per game, which is what I responded to. I’m sure we could A) Draft a guard b) Sign a guard.
