Did not realize Yang played summer league last year. Pretty horrible stats so hopefully he plays better this year

Yang Hansen | C
2025 draft: Round 1, No. 16

Yang actually had summer league experience before being drafted No. 16 last month. He joined the China national team in the California Classic last year at age 19, averaging 8.7 PPG and 5.0 RPG in three games. Both turnovers (4.7 per game) and fouls (4.0 per game in 20.9 minutes) were an issue for Yang, and we'll be watching how much he has improved in between summer league outings. -- Pelton

Some context is important. He played for a Chinese team that did not bring its best players, so he was out there on an island. He acknowledged the turnovers, and will reign those in in the future.

Search Labs | AI Overview

In Greg Oden's first summer league game, he played 27.7 minutes and scored 6 points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, with 2 rebounds, and a +/- of +8. He also had a notable dunk in his first stint on the court.
Details:
  • Points: 6
  • Field Goals: 2/3 (66.7%)
  • Free Throws: 2/2 (100%)
  • Rebounds: 2
  • Minutes Played: 27.7
  • Plus/Minus: +8

Just remember, SL doesn't mean much. If Yang does great or poorly, some of you will need to chill.

Roy and Dame looked great in SL. Clingan was good in summer league last year. Murray sucked just as he does in the NBA.

I mean its a small 5 game sample size so just like 5 games in the NBA regular season its not definitive of anything. But its often a better indicator than anything we have had on these guys. Especially players like Yang that mostly have played against high school level competition.

The fact that Jerryd Bayless was Summer League MVP pretty much says everything everyone needs to know about Summer League performances and how accurate they are going forward.........

@THE HCP I'm sure you know this but does the team own the plane that you guys fly on during the season? Just wondering because I think it's interesting that all of the SL players, coaches, other guys on the team are heading down to Vegas via commercial flight. It has me thinking that the team just leases the team plane during the season but I don't know for sure.

Joan Beringer is going to be an absolute monster defensively...it was all over his Adriatic film and it has really popped during his first SL shift.

Low usage offensively, but his catch and finishing process and screening craft is really nice.

Not sure but it would make the most sense for the team either store it or rent it out during the off-season.

Damn Minnesota is up 25-0 over the Pelicans.

(Edit looks like it's an ESPN website error - stupid ESPN)

Pelicans have to be stupidest NBA franchise in a long time. Have shit young talent, gave away double unprotected pick in the draft. Kind of amazing how great they make the Kings/Hornets/Wizards look.

No. The team charters a plane, via Delta I believe. The team used to have it's own plane years ago, they used one of Paul Allen's planes. I think he might of sold it to Trump.

Very Cool! So basically all the young guys.

Thing I'm still not sure of on this roster is Grant and or Jrue making sense here long term or even for all of next season.

I'm not sure if our young guys will all be good rotational players long term but at the least I do like all of their attitudes a lot!

Maybe they don't want him taking away minutes from the others.
Really no benefit for him to do it. He plays great and it doesn't mean much as he's played a lot of NBA minutes unimpressively. He plays bad its of course no benefit at all.

Really the only thing wrong with his NBA game is making shots. He has good D and does everything else fine. He needs to make shots at the NBA level. I'm betting he never will but I don't see extra summer league experience making a difference either way.

Compared to guys like Rupert or Yang that have dozens of things to work on, for them summer league is a potential great learning opportunity.

So each Blazers flight is a different plane?
