If you were the principal at a school and a bully who you've had issues with in the past started making jokes indirectly about the kids he bullied or purposely went out of his way to keep bringing it up, would you think it was a good idea to continue to let him get away with the baiting or would you take care of it.

From my point of view this is like the principal who does nothing even though they have seen and been told about it. How many chances does he get? People standing up to the bully shouldn't be criticized for doing so. You know damn well why he made that joke to begin with.

You're example works if I were dealing with children. Neither of you are. Cup posted what he did. There is no rule against the that. There was no action for staff to take. You didn't like his post. Depends how "indirect". For example, rich bully gets in trouble for mocking poor kids. Next day, bully is overheard exulting over his expensive possessions. IMO, principal can't do anything about that, even though it's clearly intended to elicit a response from the prior bullying victim. If the poor kid were to respond angrily/aggressively to the insensitive rich jerk, the once-victim would now be the one in trouble.

Sometimes, the respondent simply has to take responsibility for their response and quit blaming the "indirect" antagonist.

This stuff completely ruined Oregon Live. He's doing the same things here. All the mods see it. Ignoring the problem because he's the master at skirting the rules makes a wonderful place to come to a lot less enjoyable.
