The "Blazers suck" thread

We lost to a horrible team tonight. The Heat also lost to a team trying to suck as much as possible so I guess they are no longer any good either.
I understand your point, but it's not just the loss-- it's the WAY they lost. This Blazer team has some serious flaws, and they were on full display tonight.

Re: Can you feel the mediocrity tonight?

I stopped watching the Blazers towards the end of last year, but watched this game with renewed interested. Don't know how long I'll care to watch this team though. This team is just full of a bunch of pansies, like Batum. It's not entertaining.

We have a lot of new pieces, especially off the bench. To expect them to all click off the bat is a little much. We looked like a team with a lot of fixable flaws but no matter what we won't fix them all this season.

Would you like to make a wager on who ends up with the better record?

It's not about the W or L. It's all about where the team is heading and how the roster is built.

The Heat are championship contenders
The Blazers are #8seed contenders

W's or L's won't change that fact. It's not about 1 game. It's the fact we saw more of the same from the Blazers tonight, and that's mediocre basketball. You think a 5-game winning streak drastically changes the fact that that's Portland's ceiling?

All this game did was highlight the fact the Blazers are buried deep in mediocrity.

OMG WE LOST OPENING NIGHT WE SUCK AND WE ARE GOING NOWHERE LETS ALL OVERREACT AND LISTEN TO SOMEONE WHO WAS ROOTING FOR US TO LOSE SO HE COULD MAKE A "I TOLD YOU SO POST".

Lets not overreact to one loss the same way we shouldnt overreact to one win.

Uhh - Philly is good.

You saw what you wanted to see and you can justify it anyway you want. We sucked and there is no excuss for that but to expect that to be the norm or close the norm is overreacting.

Hahahahaha!

I love this place. *wipes a tear*

Evan Turner was available. Shoulda had him.

Also, I'll make an amendement. Philly is good -- and looks a hell of a lot better than we did against a shitty team.

Don't laugh, you know it's true.

I don't get rationalizing our loss by pointing out other strange losses around the league (like PHL over MIA, CLE over BKN, or SAC over DEN, etc).

Bottom line is we still got our asses handed to us by a really shitty team and looked like we haven't improved at all from last season. Ya it's one game. Hopefully, we wake the fuck up. Or this season will go sour quick with all the competition in the west.

It's to illustrate that anyone can lose to a shitty team on any given night, and Phoenix has been a huge problem for us. Bledsoe and Dragic have both been Blazer killers.

Oh, too much. I cry off, no more.

I'm not writing them off after one game. We'll be alright.

It's not so much rationalizing as it is pointing out that home teams have a mental advantage in their home opener. They get amped up and overachieve. Even our shitty sub-.500 teams over the last decade won their home openers. It just happens more often than not.

Glad someone is paying attention. It happens every year. Having said that the Blazers were not sharp in preseason, even with their winning record. They are going to take a while to gel. This forum is going to be ugly.

Re: The Blazers got there ass's handed to them tonight.

We are just not as good (or talented) as we think we are. Too many one-dimensional players, too much outside shooting, and no real offensive scheme that I can see.

I was surprised the offensive sets looked so....Nate like. There was no movement. The beat reporters made mention of the lack of movement during the preseason, so it looks like a real problem. I think Stotts was quoted as simplifying the offense this year. Offensive sets are supposed to be his forte. I find it disconcerting, too. My hope is the one-dimensional players showcase their other dimensions once the offense starts moving. With a lot of veterans, it's a little puzzling. Maybe Aldridge missing most the preseason is the reason. He is the straw that stirs the drink after all. The new guys may need to get used to playing with him.

I haven't seen much difference between the two offenses honestly. It is disappointing.

Re: The Blazers got there ass's handed to them tonight.

I think the main reason we lost is we got outworked. It shows on the boards. A lot of their paint points were from offensive boards. The long shots ignited a lot of fastbreak opportunities for the Suns and that's where the rest of the paint points came. He was an imperfect coach, but Nate always got his players to play hard. Part of the reason they largely over-achieved (except for that last year). I'm hoping this isn't a trend.

Thank you for posting this! I mentioned after the game the lack of tempo that I noticed early in the game, as the team would just walk the ball up the court and take 12 seconds to get into a set. It was dump the ball, then cutters, then a bad pass or a missed shot off of a bad pass.

Repped.

Yes but the Bobcats lost too and they DO suck. Which losing team are we most like? Miami or Charlotte?

I wish the Blazers would, for the first time in decades, hire a real coach instead of these cast off rejects like Cheeks, McMillen, and Stotts. We had multiple changes on getting a real winner like Rick Adelman and blew it. The Blazers look like crap on both ends. A good coach could get a lot more out of this roster.
