I seem to be a better target for a few of these guys. No matter what I say they are like a pack of hyenas. It's actually pretty comical.

I mean, you could use the search function to find posts. It takes 45 seconds if you know exactly what you're looking for (cj McCollum off team) and search by posters you think (know) made the posts you claim.

It's not even about if you're right or wrong. It's that you're not doing the due diligence to back up your claim.

Hope that clears it up. As you were.

Here's an interesting question about CJ.
If Hood or whomever they start at the 2 looks really, good and like a great fit with the 1st unit. Is there any chance whatsoever that Stotts looks at that and says maybe CJ should be the 6th man?
I know it's somewhat disrespectful, but I've always thought of CJ as kind of a perfect scorer off the bench, and I know other's have thought that (I'm sure I'm not alone right? heh).

Have you not read any of my responses? It was a few weeks ago if not more. Don't remember who said it and when and like I have said, I really don;t care if anyone believes me or not. Is that hard to comprehend? If it's so easy, do a search for CJ McCollum and find the poster(s) who said that McCollum is one of the worst players on the team. That's all the info I have other than my memory of reading it. Search away as it should only take you 45 seconds right?

Are you guys done beating the dead horse boys? :icecream:

If healthy and capable of playing starter minutes, McCollum should be the starter. I'm a firm believer you don't lose the starting job due to an injury. We have had a very good season and that's partially due to McCollum. I'm sure I am in the minority though and the little clique will come attacking.

Im not sure how to respond to that, without it sounding like Im attacking you...

I agree the seasons been pretty good so far, like all seasons its had some ups and downs.
Not sure how I feel about losing your “job” to injury. While it definitely sucks, it is the NBA players still get paid, its really bad in the NFL where their contracts mean almost nothing.
On the other hand if they discover something thats better for the team, then going back for sentimentality seems a little off base too. Definitely can be a tricky situation.

Maybe its the bias and narrative that I have, but to me CJ just seems like the type of player I’d love to have as my scorer off the bench. I think he would be better then Lou Williams, Better then JCrawford back in his hayday, probably not as good as Manu, but while he’s an ok Starter I think he could be an incredible guy to have off the bench.

Hood is a nice player but nowhere near the facilitator and ball handler McCollum is and if they put a lot of pressure to get the ball out of Dames hands then we won't have a quality secondary ball handler and a player that can consistently break down a defense as that's not Hoods game. I think Hood will be ok for a short period that we will see, but McCollum in my book is just that much better. I also don't follow the logic that he's an "ok" starter, but could be incredible off the bench. Minutes are minutes and if he's going to play mid 30's then what difference does it make if he starts. 20 points in the starting lineup adds up the same as 20 points off the bench .

I actually did this just to find out what would come up after reading your post. I have never actually known how to do it so i was kind of doing it for my own learning process.
I put in exactly what you said. "CJ McCollum off team"
Then i entered @BonesJones , @dviss1 , @hoopsjock, @Strenuus The big FOUR!:smiley-smiley-049:
I got 3 pages of references and a bunch of indication that a few posters would consider trading CJ for the right price.
But not one post concerning CJ and just getting rid of him. A number of posts said they would indeed like to see him change his game and maybe find a few more assists. There were a number saying there was a duplication of talent and the two guards might not be able to co-exist.
I only went back to last summer. 8/1/18

Thanks for the insight as i have really never put out the effort to use the archive. Worked pretty well.

Nice work! Yeah, I'm usually pretty negative on CJ so I'm not surprised you got that much haha.

Here is where things get sticky.
Stotts has always (And i agree with him on this) said he does not feel a player should ever loose his starting position due to injury.
The next issue is that just like when you were playing sports at any level starting is always what players want to do. Moving CJ to sixth man would be totally out of the question at this point on this team IMHO.

Fair enough, one caveat though. If it was a real game I wouldnt care if I started, or played 30 seconds the only thing I cared about when I played was winning. I had some over competitive problems...

game set match on what? or is this more of the new improved bailey?

You are a sports fan. Im pretty sure you know the rules of tennis. If not, i apologize for my assumption. If you do know, then why ask the obvious?

I can understand that. I was always on the field or court though and if i was not and the team lost? Now that was completely unacceptable for me. No way was i not gonna be the one taking the last shot or throwing the hail mary or pitching the close out game. That was just who i was. But i was never at this level and i just don't know the same things these guys have to deal with.

Is there a reason why you chose "CJ McCollum off team" as your search parameter and only 4 posters? That was never indicated in anything I stated or are you admitting there was NO COLLUSION! :bgrin:

Better work would have been to post the comments but that was not really what i was doing.
Like i said i was just figuring out how it works.

and what you found was pretty much what anybody would have expected. I'm in favor of ending the Dame/CJ back court experiment, but to do so while getting a good return in trade.

some of the comments about people "hating" CJ enough to be ok with him injured or simply gone were just asinine.

No reason other than what i explained in the post. CJ off team was the indication used in Strens post. the 4 posters i chose because as i called them "The Big 4 :smiley-smiley-049:" And it was all done for my own learning capacity as i stated.

I don;t recall seeing anyone say they were ok with McCollum getting injured. If so, that's a pretty stupid comment.

ok. So NO COLLUSION. Phew!

Yeah definitely true, man if my teams lost and I didnt play the amount I thought I should, especially as a teenager that didnt go well. Glad I grew up a bit.

Stotts benching CJ? Is it already April?

I'm going to play devil's advocate and suggest you both have a point. I agree that a player shouldn't lose their place over an injury, and in any event I don't think Hood is good enough to justify a permanent change.

That said, there is a sound argument to bring CJ off the bench when he first returns to action. Let him get his seas legs back against opposing reserves, then ease him back into a starting role.

Depending when he comes back, there may only be a few games left. Not enough time to get the team ready for the playoffs and the team needs to play with the rotation that will be going into the playoffs as much as possible. If he needs minute restrictions then that can easily be monitored and accommodated.
