Uh...... it's pretty much always been this way?

Not sure what equates to "pretty much always", but I do seem to recall an ancient past where people actually came here (or one of the previous stops) to actually talk about basketball - specifically Portland Trail Blazers basketball.

Perhaps I am misremembering, it's been so long ago, perhaps my memories are influenced by nostalgia for the good old days.

One thing I don't remember is nearly every thread devolving into bitching and moaning about other posters, perceived personal slights, ongoing personal feuds, complaining about favoritism by the mods and general online personas and agendas.

This forum has far fewer rules and far less heavy handed moderation than any other forum I've ever participated in. The relaxing of rules was supposed to be one of the advantages of moving to S2. Instead, the lack of moderation has become a convenient target for those too immature to figure out how to play nice with others.

Not mentioning anyone by name, because it's not just one or two individuals, but the next time anyone feels like posting yet another sob story about other posters picking on them and the mods playing favorites, step back from the keyboard, take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself, does anybody else want to read about this for the 100th time, or am I just being self-indulgent and polluting the forum with my feelings that would be better shared with my therapist in private. Or, better still, just get the fuck over it and focus on things that actually matter, like Portland Trail Blazers basketball!

My last post was at 9:23am in this thread and you now want to get involved and yell at me? Contact me through PM and I will give plenty of details if you are really interested as I have sent info in the past that just gets ignored.

The past two pages have been the both of you going at it. I've had enough. I've said what needs to be said.

Or, it's a public forum and do what you want.

You may have said that, but I stopped reading half way through your post.

It's true that anyone can read what's posted here, but the forum is privately owned and like all other forums, there are rules, including terms of usage. Violate those terms and those who own/administer the site can ban you from participating.

So no, you can't just "do what you want".

BNM Ive always loved talking basketball with you, but its really odd to me that you only “came back” to talk personal relationships on here. Your post history before you left was almost entirely in the OT too. There is great basketball convo’s here, and you’re an incredibly knowledgeable guy that has a lot to add. Please ignore me or whomever it is that you’re upset with and get to basketball.

I have also noticed some individuals looking for perceived slights or insults rather than just having a cordial conversation without presuming to know the other person's intent.

Me too, but my point was theres still good basketball convo’s and we can choose to not get dragged into it and talk basketball, and the Blazers.

I think there are good basketball convos if everyone agrees. The problem is when someone states an unpopular point of view.

Its all about how people choose to disagree. Jumping on someone because they disagree never turns out well here on anywhere else.

No, that is not the problem. Here is an example:

Person A says "we should split up Dame and CJ by trading CJ for a bigger wing." Now we can discuss whether or not that should happen.

Person B then after CJ gets hurt says "Person A you're going to get what you wanted now!" It's a mischaracterization of what Person A wanted and leads to an argument. Posts like that are what leads to this crap, not stating an unpopular opinion.

Just the other day you had an unpopular opinion that you'd rather have a 4.5% chance at Zion than have the Blazers be a top-4 playoff team. As stupid as that logic was (jk) it didn't lead to name calling.
