Notice The CJ injury update thread

Based on the talent on the team. I fully believe we’re capable of beating anybody. We have a superstar point guard and I believe a budding superstar in Nurk.
If CJ can’t play, we are done. Even the great MJ needs Scottie Pippen on his side to win.

Sounds like that twitter account is wanting to be first with breaking bad news. How can they determine it is season ending if they don't even know what the issue is how severe it is and what it will entail. I will wait for news from someone who has heard the diagnosis after the MRI.

If it's on the internet it's true.

well, i hope this doesnt mean more Evan Turner.

more Curry? more Hood?

le sigh tho, we were just starting to heat.

I’m only waiting for a Woj good news tweet

If the MRI was scheduled between 12 and 3 (as believed), I seriously doubt it would happen, get completed/sent in for review and leaked in under 30 minutes.

If CJ is out. I guess we'll see exactly what he means to this club.
This late in the season if it's serious. He's prolly looking at a Jan/Feb of 2020 return date.

Not that big of a deal huh.
So when you get this account banned. I expect you to NOT go to a random media person on twitter trying to get people 'in trouble' on this site.
You know like you did a couple accounts ago.

I agree with @BonesJones you shouldn't be here and the fact that you keep coming back by changing your IP shows you take this 'internet stuff' more serious than anyone whos ever been a member of this site.

Let’s all be cool. Go blazers

This really sucks for CJ. would never wish this on any player.

However, one positive of CJs injury is that we'll get to see a little bit of what the team would look like if Dame/CJ were broken up.... Although, its not entirely a fair comparison because I'd assume we'd trade CJ for an upgrade at a forward position.

If we don't see a noticeable change in the direction of the team, then CJs impact may not be as large as some think

CJ out makes it easier to double team Dame.

If an MCL injury:

Recovery times differ depending on the severity of the injury: A minor, or grade 1,MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports. A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal.

A torn miniscus or MCL could be good news.

Besides without looking it up how often do basketball players tear their MCL and nothing else? I know sprains happen a lot to the MCL, which is my guess of what it is. Recovery time for that is usually 2-8 weeks depending on the severity.

Let’s see if the CJ haters are happy now. I hope he’s okay...
There is a huge difference between people who want to trade CJ, people who want CJ to use his skills more as a playmaker than a scorer, and a small percentage that just want him gone.

Please don't lump all 3 together. I'm guessing even the group that firmly wants CJ off the team didn't want him injured after the trade deadline and possibly killing his value this summer. The Blazers haven't had to deal with many serious injuries lately so this one would be pretty devastating.

Grade II MCL Sprain Data: How long NBA players have missed with Steph Curry's injury
renderTimingPixel.png

GRADE 2 TEARS

Matthew Dellavedova: 34 Days

Zach Randolph (outlier): 75 Days

Rudy Gobert: 38 Days

Nene: 45 Days

Marc Gasol: 53 Days

Quincy Pondexter: 43 Days

Kevin Durant: 39 Days

Carl Landry: 49 Days

Greg Stiemsma: 48 Days

Average Days Missed: 43.6 (or 47.1 if I hadn't removed Zach Randolph's injury as an outlier)

That would take Steph through til the 6th of May

14th of April is the start of playoffs

28th of April is the earliest the conference semi-finals can begin

13th of May is the earliest the conference finals can begin

All days are measured inclusively from date of injury to date of return and I've made no effort to check if there were any aggravations during recoveries or delayed returns due to being ready to return during all star break or anything like that. I linked the basketball reference game logs instead of the articles which state the injuries were in fact reported as grade II injuries but you can find those articles pretty easily by googling the players name and mcl sprain if you want to check. With there only being 3 grades of sprain there is clearly a lot of variation inside grade 2, so this is by no means conclusive.

GRADE 1 TEARS

Steph Curry: 15 days

Rudy Gobert: 35 Days

Jeff Teague: 14 Days

Keith Bogans: 21 Days

Kyle Anderson: 17 Days
